Abstract

There is a known method for the renovation of old asphalt coverings, in which new material is laid on the old asphalt covering and during milling of the old covering it is mixed with the latter in equal proportions, so that after milling an homogeneous mixture with the desired grain size curve is obtained. The quantity of this mixture is twice that needed for production of the new asphalt covering. In order not to have to cart away such a large quantity for storage, according to the invention a far smaller quantity of new stone material of a selected coarse fraction is supplied, which after milling is fed to a sieving screen, by means of which a significant quantity of the unwanted fine fraction in particular is screened out. With this specific removal of the unwanted parts of the large quantity of uncrushed sand particles in the material less than 2 mm, it is only necessary to cart away much smaller quantities of material and to add new material in corresponding proportions. <IMAGE>
