Abstract
The method uses a protective gas and non-melting electrodes but no additional material. The seam is made of two pitched seams which start at the lowest point of the seam and overlap at the highest point. The first pitched seam (N1) is applied starting from the lowest point of the seam to slightly above the highest point. The second pitched seam (N2) is finally applied starting from the lowest point to lie over the first pitched seam and to end before the highest point. A preheating section (H) extends over a starting region of the first seam adjacent to the lowest point.
