Abstract
A COMPOSITE WITH A HYDROPHILIFIABLE SURFACE, COMPRISING, (A) A SUBSTRATE; AND (B) A LAYER PROVIDED ON THE SURFACE OF THE SUBSTRATE, THE LAYER CONTAINING A PHOTOCATALYTIC SEMICONDUCTOR MATERIAL, THE PHOTOCATALYTIC SEMICONDUCTOR MATERIAL OPERATING IN RESPONSE TO THE PHOTOEXCITATION THEREOF TO ENHANCE A HYDROGEN BOND COMPONENT (γSH) IN THE SURFACE ENERGY IN THE SOLID/GAS INTERFACE OF THE LAYER, THEREBY HYDROPHILIFYING THE SURFACE OF THE COMPOSITE. THE COMPOSIT DOES NOT UNDERGO ANY DEPISITION OF CONTAMINANTS ON THE SURFACE THEREOF AND IS READILY CLEANED BY RAINFALL OR WASHING WITH WATER.(FIG 7)
