Abstract

A device for monitoring and limiting the static closing force of a reciprocating mass driven by a motor (1) and also for monitoring the motor control unit (3) and another unit (5) to limit the motor power to a first threshold corresponding to the maximum allowed force, has in the second control unit a parameter measured which is proportional to the motor power. The signal passed to the first control unit can be adjusted and tested to see if the parameter changes with the change in control signal. If the parameter climbs above a second threshold lower than the first, recognition of blocking is given.
