Abstract

A drive mechanism has a vertically upright shaft 1, on which in the lower area a turbine 7 is permanently arranged. A tube 3, which conically widens out upwards, is also permanently arranged on the shaft 1, concentrically enclosing this. In the upper area the tube 3 has an overflow 4. A fixed, annular collecting vessel 14 is located below this overflow 4. From this vessel a liquid 15, especially water, is led downwards by way of fall pipes 13 in such a way that the blades 8 of the turbine 7 are acted upon from beneath by means of this liquid 15. Since the tube 3 has previously been caused to rotate, for example by means of an electric motor, the water, due to the centrifugal force and the conical design of the tube 3, shoots upwards and after passing the overflow 4 collects in the collecting vessel 14. In addition helical baffle plates 9, set at an inclined angle, can be provided inside the tube 3 and nozzles 6 can be provided in the area of the overflow 4 for the generation of additional torques.
