Abstract

The passageway for persons between two railway vehicles (1, 2) is fitted with means for damping rolling movements and/or means for damping relative movements between the two vehicles. This damping means comprise at least one damper (8, 9) in which the line of action of the damping force in every position of the two vehicles cuts the longitudinal central plane (10) at an angle of 0 < phi < 90 DEG . The damper may, for instance, take the form of a hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder/piston unit (8, 9). With the railway vehicles (1, 2) in the normal position, the line of action of the dampers can run symmetrically in relation to the longitudinal central plane (10) of the vehicle as, for example, one free end of the damper is secured (14, 15) in the region of one corner of the vehicle (1) and the other in the region of the diagonally opposite corner of the other vehicle (2). Such a passageway is fitted with easily installable, removable and adjustable damping means in order to generate a transverse friction component and damp rolling and/or swaying movements, especially in bufferless vehicles.
