Abstract

Conventional processes for the pressure dehydration of aqueous sludges require a complicated and heavy hydraulic unit for pushing dehydrated sludge out of a filter chamber. This unit is to be made superfluous by applying the novel process. For this purpose, the thin sludge (10) delivered under pressure is used as the medium for driving the pusher piston (7'), the thin sludge (10) already being pre-dehydrated. This process is applied in fixed and also mobile installations, wherever mechanical pressure dehydration of sludges is carried out for reducing the volume and concentrating solids. <IMAGE>
