DEUTSCHES PATENTAMTGERMAN PATENT OFFICE
The subject of patent 710 790 is the use of surface-active activated carbon or silica gel containing cellulose wadding for dressing and for medical and sanitary purposes. object of the present application is first of all the process for the production of surface-active cellulose wadding, also expansions in the combination of applications. As a carrier of the surface-active Properties are essentially silica gel and active charcoal. The recently for Fuller's earth used for adsorption purposes is of minor importance. Active coal both and silica gel, as tests on the paper machine have shown, have a negligible one low tendency to become embedded in the thin cellulose fleece during cellulose wadding. Out A snow-white fleece emerges from the paper pulp that appears black. The coal suspension goes almost completely in the throughfeed (Fourdrinier machine). The use of paper chemical intermediaries has no influence on this result. It would also result in an extensive electrical charge reversal Charcoal, which could promote binding to the fiber, destroy the active properties of the charcoal.
It has now been found that there is a critical level of saturation of the pulp to be more active Charcoal or silica gel, above which the
