Description
BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLANDFEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY
Tag der Anmeldung: 8. Januar 1955 Bekanntgemacht am 22. März 1956Registration date: January 8, 1955. Advertised on March 22, 1956
DEUTSCHES PATENTAMTGERMAN PATENT OFFICE
Sunscreens for human skin contain chemicals that absorb ultraviolet light, and the maximum absorption should be between 290 and 325 ταμ . Above 325 ταμ the absorption should decrease as quickly as possible in order to allow the pigmenting rays, which extend up to about 390 ταμ and have their maximum effect at about 350, ταμ , to pass through unhindered.
The main disadvantages of the chemicals used so far for this purpose are either that the UV absorption does not meet the requirements just discussed or that the the substances concerned have skin-irritating or other undesirable physiological properties. The latter applies in particular to the sulfonamides that have recently been used more frequently as light stabilizers which are known to cause allergic reactions in certain people and which also undesirable in the case of later internal sulfonamide treatment to combat infection Can cause symptoms of resistance. Similar concerns are generally raised against nitrogenous ones To raise compounds, it might therefore be preferable to use nitrogen-free light stabilizers Substances to choose. Long-known representatives of this field of application belong here certain coumarin derivatives, especially Aescu-

However, these substances have due to their poor absorption spectrum not proven.
The need hach - ;. a nitrogen-free, physiological indifferent substance with the necessary absorption properties ". ' "for light protection purposes could not be satisfied until now. The present invention is based on the knowledge that these Requirements Esters and salts of phenylglyoxylic acid meet to an excellent degree, which have at least one nucleus-bound, optionally etherified or esterified oxy group. Especially The esters or salts of dimethoxyphenylglyoxylic acid are advantageous. The main esters are those with lower aliphatic alcohols and as salts those with inorganic bases (e.g. alkalis and alkaline earths) in question. About it However, it is also possible to use salts with certain organic bases (e.g. aliphatic, hydroaromatic or aromatic amines). These can be physiologically inert nitrogenous Acting bases that only have a special technical effect, such as B. that of solving the problem, own, whereby the advantage of the nitrogen-free active ingredient justified at the beginning is not canceled will. On the other hand, it can be particularly advantageous to combine the light protection substance with organic To combine bases of specific, desired therapeutic effect (e.g. antihistamine effect).
B. die folgenden allgemein anwendbaren chemischen Verfahren herangezogen Werden: A. Die Friedel-Crafts-Umsetzung vonThe compounds mentioned are 'physiologically indifferent, they absorb ultraviolet light below 300 ταμ very strongly. - The maxima of the absorption show values for the logarithm of the molar extinction close to or above 4. The decrease in absorption after longer waves is sufficiently steep to allow the tanning rays to pass through. In addition, the substances proposed as light stabilizers according to the invention, insofar as they represent salts of phenylglyoxylic acid, still have the advantage of being water-soluble. The salts also dissolve easily in various polyalcohols, which are of considerable cosmetic importance as modern, indifferent ointment bases or as water-soluble, film-forming viscous liquids. The named derivatives of phenylglyoxylic acid in the form of their easily accessible esters are suitable for the preparation of oily solutions. For their representation z. B. the following generally applicable chemical methods can be used: A. The Friedel-Crafts implementation of
·■ : ·."Ethoxalyl chloride with a corresponding phenyl ether or ester; B. the Friedel-Crafts implementation of Ethoxalyl chloride with phenols and subsequent esterification of the oxyphenylglyoxylic acid esters obtained; C. the conversion of suitably substituted benzoic acid chlorides with cyanides into the corresponding ones Phenylglyoxyl nitriles .. and ·, hydrolysis the benzoyl aminoethers obtainable therefrom to the desired esters. · ■: ·. "
The table shows a large number of - mostly previously unknown - compounds according to the present invention, specifying the chemical constitution and some characteristic physical properties. The melting and boiling points of the substances are mentioned under Fp. And Kp., The latter being indicated by adding the associated pressure in mm Hg. The indication "lAt." In the column " Manufacturing process " means that the manufacture of the substance in question is known from the literature. The letters A, B, C indicate the manufacturing processes given above. When specifying the absorption, log ε means the logarithm of the molar extinction. In the UV measurements, only the range from 260 to 400 ταμ was measured. Maxima lying outside this spectral range were not taken into account. Some compounds for which not a single wavelength but a wavelength range is specified in the table as “maximum” show 1 or 2 strongly flattened maxima in this range.
