DEUTSCHES PATENTAMTGERMAN PATENT OFFICE
Included you can either work with oxygen or oxygen-containing gases or without oxygen. When using oxygen, it is possible not only to produce gases from oils that have the character of water gas or synthesis gas character, in contrast to this, if low temperatures are maintained Using steam and oxygen to produce a gas with a similar composition from heating oil like town gas. Now the generation of gases is by means of pure or highly concentrated Oxygen is relatively expensive because the system and operating costs of the oxygen system are not insignificant. Do you want however, produce a town gas from heating oils without the use of oxygen or those containing oxygen Gases, so far there have been very great difficulties. You have to for the gasification reaction have a heat transfer medium. As such, one expediently takes water vapor or part of it of the generated gas. If you now work for the purpose of good work-up of the oil with relatively high temperatures, with water vapor as a heat transfer medium, it turns out that one is probably a good yield is obtained, but that on the other hand not enough hydrocarbons in the gas produced can be obtained because of these at the high

Also- muß man bei Wasserdampf als Wärmeträger schon bleiben, was aber, wie schonTemperatures are reacted with the water vapor. Another means like steam than To take heat transfer medium is difficult to use because it has to be heated up and then the hydrocarbons are converted or cracked. One cannot, therefore · in this way no Obtain methane-rich or hydrocarbon-containing gas. So- you have to use steam as Heat transfer medium will remain, but what, how already
ίο obenerwähnt, bei den betreffenden hohen Temperaturen, die nötig sind, um den Kohlenstoff des Heizöls möglichst restlos umzusetzen, die Bildung von Kohlenwasserstoffen, insbesondere von Methan, im erzeugten Gas ebenfalls verhindert.ίο mentioned above, at the high temperatures concerned, which are necessary to convert the carbon in the heating oil as completely as possible, the formation of Hydrocarbons, especially methane, are also prevented in the gas produced.
When gasifying heating oils on town gas without the addition of oxygen, however, there is still another one further difficulty. The oil must be in a finely divided state, i.e. through a kind of burner in The reaction chamber can be injected in order to react together with the highly heated steam get. It can now be seen that a certain part of the carbon remains after gasification and is discharged in the form of soot with the gas stream generated. As I said, this difficulty arises predominantly at the temperatures that must be used, in order to achieve as complete a temperature as possible Achieve gasification of the oil. On the other hand, if you work at lower temperatures that The gas produced is of relatively high quality, i.e. with the character of a city gas, so In addition to small amounts of soot, you also get tarry residues, which are relatively unpleasant are. This resulting thickener easily clogs the apparatus and, on the other hand, decreases the application. In addition, this thicker can hardly be used industrially in any way.
Town gas without the addition of oxygen-containing gases to eliminate occurring difficulties, if is worked according to the invention.
The apparatus for carrying out (drawing) the new process basically consists of two cylindrical vessels α and b, which have refractory linings. The cylindrical vessel a regeneratively acting receives two stone panels c and d and the vessel b a single Regeneratorfüllung e, which is usually greater than the fillings c and d. In the regenerator b, i.e. above its filling e, water vapor is now introduced rising from bottom to top at f , which heats up and passes through a connecting channel g into part α and sweeps it through from top to bottom. The essence of the process now consists in converting the heating oil in two stages. For this purpose, the fuel oil to be gasified is divided into two parts, of which the larger part is preferably finely distributed at m above the regenerative filling c and is largely gasified here at high temperatures of the heated steam and also high temperatures of the stone pile c, whereby however, relatively little methane or other hydrocarbons are formed. The gas produced with the remaining water vapor flows further downwards, and now a small amount of oil is injected again at η above the stack d , with the relatively low temperatures carburizing the more produced above. results in water gas-like gas, so that the entire gas has a composition similar to normal town gas. If the temperature of the gas should be too high when it enters the filling d , cold additional steam can be introduced at Z 1. After the process has worked in this way for a while, it is switched over to heat up regenerator b again. For this purpose, the oil supply in α is interrupted at both points and the steam supply at / and then a high-temperature flue gas is generated on top of the regenerator b by a burner p using fuel oil or a waste gas, which heats the regenerator e again, flowing from top to bottom, whereby the flue gases are cooled at / exit. The burner p, which reheats the regenerator e , can receive its air either as cold air directly at p itself, or all or part of the combustion air can be preheated in the regenerator α by being fed in at ^ or t. The possibility of regulation resulting from this allows an additional influence on the temperatures in the stacks c and d to be taken. The combustion air for the burner ρ can therefore be supplied cold at p and more or less hot at s or t depending on the requirements of the operation.
Der Ölstand in u ist soAs already mentioned above, complete conversion of the oil is not to be expected, and certain amounts of soot are formed in the upper reaction zone c and smaller amounts of soot, but certain amounts of heavy tars, are formed in the lower reaction zone d. It is now usually very difficult and cumbersome to recover the soot and to recycle it, which expediently had to be within the process, and it is even more difficult to control the heavy tars because these together with the soot result in deposits which get started everywhere, especially at the control organs, and then bring the operation to a standstill after a short time. Here, too, the invention helps by cooling the hot gas generated in a special way. According to the figure, this is done so that d by a .Ringleitung just below the stack injected into the lower part of α oil so that the both χ runs down on the walls and prevents approaches here and is also sprayed y in the space Soot is precipitated and bound by the oil. The tars formed are also absorbed by the washing oil during this cooling process. The lower end of α is an oil dip. The lower part of the cylinder α dips into a larger cylindrical vessel u , which is filled with the oil to be gasified at the bottom. The oil level in u is like this

Andererseits kann, falls diese Art der Kühlung nicht ausreicht, ein Teilchosen that the gases generated have to break through a kind of oil immersion, with the last impurities such as soot and tar being absorbed by the oil. At q the generated gases then emerge. The oil content of u, which absorbs the sensible heat of the gas produced, is repeatedly cooled by the fact that the fresh oil is mainly used here. On the other hand, if this type of cooling is not sufficient, a part
Es ist aber auch möglich, die Aufheizung im drucklosen Zustand vorzunehmen.ίο of the oil drawn off and recooled again by an indirect or direct cooler. The soot gradually accumulates in the lower part of u because the soot particles sink downwards. The procedure now is to operate the heating burner p for heating the stack e with the oil that collects in the lowest part of u at around U 1. Those amounts of oil that are gasified are subtracted further up, namely at about v, because the oil here contains relatively less soot. Under certain circumstances, the gasification can also be carried out in whole or in part with fresh oil. Part of the oil is drawn off at w and injected into space y through the ring line ζ in order to cool the gas produced and to separate out tar vapors and soot. The process can also be carried out very expediently under excess pressure, and it is also possible to work under pressure during the heating period. But it is also possible to carry out the heating in a pressureless state.
