DEUTSCHES PATENTAMTGERMAN PATENT OFFICE
The invention relates to a method of recovery of higher molecular weight cleavage products that can be crosslinked to form plastics from waste of crosslinked nitrogenous polycondensation products.
Die Säuren und Basen sollen nurIn the manufacture of plastic articles on the basis of isocyanates and polyesters always a certain percentage of waste produced: cases, which is especially great if you ίο article draws from plastic foam. The recycling of this waste has so far still caused difficulties, because the polyester plastic containing urethane groups - in contrast to the usual thermoplastics - only softens at relatively high temperatures, and at the same time decomposition which is detrimental to the substance occurs. As a result, the valuable properties of these plastics are largely lost. On the other hand, attempts have already been made to depolymemize linear polymers in the heat and in the presence of water. These proposals concern the reconditioning of synthetic fibers without any addition of chemicals. Another known proposal also relates to the work-up of a linear polymeric substance under pressure and heat, the absence of moisture being expressly required. In addition, according to this publication, an excess of diisocyanates and acids or acid releasers or tertiary organic bases are to be added to the waste. The acids and bases are only supposed to

dazu dienen, um die Umsetzungsgeschwindigkeit zu beeinflussen. Von einer Teilnahme an der eigentlichen Reaktion, um auf die Struktur der Spaltprodukte einzuwirken, ist bei diesem Vorschlag nichts ausgesagt.serve to influence the speed of implementation. From participating in the actual Reaction to act on the structure of the fission products is with this proposal nothing said.
Die vorstehend aufgeführten bekanntenAnother publication envisages composing linear polyurethanes under pressure and heat to split diamines and diols with the water. The known ones listed above
ίο Verfahren haben jedoch den Nachteil, daß die Verseifungsreaktion nicht vollständig abläuft und daß sie nicht in jedem Falle auf vernetzte Kunststoffe anwendbar ist.ίο process have the disadvantage that the saponification reaction does not expire completely and that it does not in any case on crosslinked plastics is applicable.
By the present invention, the processing of the waste is perfected so that this can be reused quantitatively, with the cleavage products exhibiting excellent reactivity because of their free OH groups. At the same time the good ones physical and chemical properties of those produced using the fission products Retain isocyanate-polyester-based plastics.
The invention consists in the digestion of the waste in a known manner in the presence of water at elevated temperature and preferably under pressure, but with simultaneous action alkaline reacting substances takes place. Due to the simultaneous presence of water Partial bursting of the molecular groups occurs, preferably on the ester groups, with saponification one. The reaction equilibrium is set as a result of the action of the alkaline reacting substances shifted in the direction of the fission products,
H. the saponification reaction now takes place complete, and the free OH groups necessary for the crosslinking reaction with isocyanates are significantly increased by the alkaline medium.
The required amount of water depends on the chemical structure of the plastic. As a rule, an excess of 100% is used, based on the formula necessary amount. In addition, enough water is added so that the existing space of the Pressure gradient is filled.
It is expedient to work up waste that is in foam form. However, there is the Possibility of processing massive plastic waste according to the present process.
As alkaline reacting substances in. primarily ammonia and / or caustic soda is used will. It is also possible to use potassium hydroxide solution or the like or organic bases, but one will as a rule the use of ammonia and caustic soda for reasons alone prefer the economy.
.In the process, due to the mild reaction conditions, it is not absolutely necessary to use a protective gas, such as. B. nitrogen, CO 2 , noble gases to use. But it is also within the scope of the invention to work with a protective gas. This case can occur, for example, if there is a risk that the normal working temperature will be exceeded for any reason. .
The digestion of the waste is expediently carried out at temperatures below 280 ° in order to avoid undesired thermal decomposition. In general, the operating temperature is approximately be 200 '0th This also helps to protect the waste substance. The specified working temperature is only given as an example and should not be construed as a limitation. If the temperature is too high, however, there is a risk of the substance darkening.
The cleavage product obtained by the process according to the invention falls in the form of a liquid medium viscosity without residue and can easily be used for the production of 8c £ crosslinked plastics serving polyester mass are added. The won product draws are characterized by their particularly good responsiveness. The foam art λ produced with its help Fabric articles have good physical and former properties Properties compared to articles made from fresh raw materials show no decrease in physical values.
Auf diese Weise kann eine Substanz erhalten werden, deren OH-Zahl 214 und deren Säurezahl 5 beträgt.500 g of foam plastic are heated in an autoclave together with 50 g 3 n-ammonia 200 0, then cooled to 150 0 and the vapor vented. If the number of acid groups in the cleavage products is too high, which can easily be determined, the product obtained can subsequently be treated with a base, e.g. B. 40% sodium hydroxide solution, added to increase the number of reactive O Η groups. In this way, a substance whose OH number is 214 and whose acid number is 5 can be obtained.
