PATENTSCHRIFTPATENT LETTERING
KLASSE 14: Dampfmaschinen.CLASS 14: Steam Engines.
Patentirt im Deutschen Reiche vom 18. Juni 1896 ab.Patented in the German Empire on June 18, 1896.
The machine consists of two rollers mounted in parallel, of which one, α (Fig. 1 and 2), is provided with a groove running around the same, forming a segment of a circle in profile, which is covered with a flexible membrane d. The membrane is firmly connected to the roller on both sides of the groove and, together with the groove, forms a cavity c which goes around the roller and which absorbs the pressure fluid (water, steam, compressed air). The connection of the cavity with the pressure vessel provides the bore e of the partially hollow shaft f, as well as a channel g leading from this through the roller to the groove. Close to the mouth of this channel, the membrane is connected to the roller at h , so the cavity is closed, while the other end, at i, is open. The roll b engages with the bead k running around it (Fig. 2) in the groove of the roll α , pushes the membrane into it and thus causes the cavity formed by the groove and the membrane to close at the respective contact point of the two rolls . The operating principle of the machine is as follows: The pressure fluid, which enters the cavity c through the bore e of the shaft f and through the channel g and inflates the membrane, finds a resistance at the point at which the two rollers touch . The pressure now also acts on the closed end h of the * cavity, which seeks to move away from the contact point of the rollers in the direction of the arrow m. The roller α gives way to the pressure directed against h and begins to rotate, the roller b also forcing it to rotate due to friction .. Has the roller α made a full turn, ie the point of contact of the two rollers lies between the closed end h and the open 'end ζ of the membrane, the hydraulic fluid used for the single rotation can escape freely at i. However, the supply of new pressure fluid is interrupted at this moment by a nose η (FIG. 2) which is seated on the hollow shaft and which is now located in front of the inlet opening 0 of the sleeve ρ '. The machine stands on the dead point, which it, supported by a flywheel, easily overcomes by the excess force of the first rotation. Once this has taken place, the nose η has also released the inflow opening 0 again, and the inflow begins anew.
Die Ueberwindung des todten Punktes erfolgt hier auch ohne Schwierigkeit, wenn man, wie in Fig. 3, die WalzenIn order to increase the efficiency of the machine, one can group around one roller b two or more hollow rollers α (Fig. 3), α 1 and α 2 , whereby the roller b is completely relieved of one-sided pressure and the friction on theirs Wave, is almost entirely canceled. The dead point can also be overcome here without difficulty if, as in FIG. 3, the rollers
derart anordnet, dafs d1 bereits die Hälfte ihres Weges zurückgelegt hat, wenn sich a1 auf ihrem todten Punkt befindet.so arranged that d 1 has already covered half of its way when a 1 is at its dead point.
