Plasticizing and elasticizing agents for polyvinyl chloride
It
it was found that viscous condensation products from bivalent or higher valued
Alcohols which are interrupted in the carbon chain by heteroatoms, and
di- or polybasic aliphatic carboxylic acids, which in a preferred embodiment
monocarboxylic acids having at least 4 carbon atoms are added, excellent
are suitable as plasticizers for polyvinyl chloride.
Für die Darstellung der genannten esterartigen Kondensationsprodukte
kommen an zwei- oder höherwertigen Alkoholen in Betracht: Diäthylenglykol, Triäthylenglykol
sowie andere Polyalkylenglykole, Diglycerin, Thiodiglykol, y,y'-Dioxypropylsulfid,
Diäthanolamin und Triäthanolamin, Dipentaerythrit und andere. Bevorzugte zwei- oder
mehrbasische aliphatische Carbonsäuren sind Glutarsäure, Adipinsäure, Methyladipinsäure,
Acelainsäure, Sebacinsäure, Aconitsäure, Zitronensäure, Butantetracarbonsäuren. For the representation of the mentioned ester-like condensation products
of dihydric or higher alcohols come into consideration: diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol
as well as other polyalkylene glycols, diglycerine, thiodiglycol, y, y'-dioxypropyl sulfide,
Diethanolamine and triethanolamine, dipentaerythritol and others. Preferred two- or
polybasic aliphatic carboxylic acids are glutaric acid, adipic acid, methyladipic acid,
Acelaic acid, sebacic acid, aconitic acid, citric acid, butanetetracarboxylic acids.
An einbasischen Carbonsäuren seien genannt: Capronsäure, Äthylcapronsäure,
Monobasic carboxylic acids are: caproic acid, ethylcaproic acid,
Capric acid, lauric acid, coconut oil fatty acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid,
Castoroleic acid, naphthenic acid, alkoxyacetic acids, such as butoxyacetic acid, octyloxyacetic acid,
Naphthenyloxyacetic acid, cetoxyacetic acid and isobutyl cresoxyacetic acid. The production
the ester-like condensation products from the aforementioned alcoholic and
acidic components are carried out in a known manner by heating the components
Temperatures from 150 to 2500 C, whereby
indifferent liquids,
Vapors or gases that promote the removal of the water of reaction are also used
can be. The esterification can be normal, increased or decreased
Pressure can be made. The reaction products have a viscous consistency
and are very compatible with polyvinyl chloride. They give them one
higher plasticity and elasticity.
From the German patents 555 586 and 7I8 764 it is known
Esterification products from glycerine and higher paraffin or olefin carboxylic acids,
some of which can be replaced by higher molecular weight monocarboxylic acids in the
Production of vulcanizable mixtures of rubber to be used. These substances
represent cross-linked products which are incompatible with polyvinyl chloride.
Furthermore, from the German patent specification 623 988 esters from oxidation products
of higher molecular weight aliphatic hydrocarbons, especially those with
an acid number of over 400, and monohydric or polyhydric alcohols as plasticizers
known for cellulose derivatives and other high polymer compounds. It is about
with ester mixtures, which both in terms of color and color fastness
as well as with regard to the irregular composition of the relatively high content
on oxycarboxylic acid esters, aldehydes and ketones as plasticizers for polyvinyl chloride
are unsuitable because oxo compounds cause discoloration and oxycarboxylic acid compounds
sweat out of polyvinyl chloride sheeting. As cellulose softeners are also nice
Diesters of diethylene glycol and propionic or butyric acid have been proposed.
These esters have a completely different chemical structure than those according to the invention
used polyester and are used as plasticizers for polyvinyl chloride because of their
unsuitable for high volatility and susceptibility to water.

Example 60 parts by weight of polyvinyl chloride and 40 parts by weight of one
