Description
Process for Generating Metal Precipitates The invention relates to a process for the production of metal deposits on inorganic or organic Bodies using thermally decomposable metal compounds. It is known, the body before or during the metallization to at least the decomposition temperature to heat the metal compound. However, this metallization process has essentials Disadvantage.
Because of the high temperatures, heat-sensitive organic substances can cannot be metallized with this process. It is also very difficult constant reaction conditions, in particular a constant favorable one Maintain temperature at the point of deposition, so that with the previously known method a firmly adhering, fine-grained metal coating could not be achieved and moreover there were also considerable losses due to the formation of metal dust.
In order to partially avoid these difficulties, it was previously necessary carry out the metallization process in a vacuum.
In the method according to the present invention, the in a pressure vessel brought to high temperature and obtained stably at high pressure vapor Metal compound decomposed by relaxation. This is a considerable simplification of the metallization process, since the heating of the Body is completely eliminated, accordingly all difficulties of temperature control avoided with temperature control during thermal decomposition are connected by metal connections. In the new process, the decomposition process just like that under constant conditions, d. H. while keeping it constant of pressure and temperature during relaxation, so that everyone on the body Type and surface shape a completely uniform, very fine-grained extraordinarily firmly adhering metal coating can be produced. As with the new procedure the body to be metallized does not need to be heated, so it is straightforward possible with the new process also heat-sensitive organic substances such. B. paper, textiles and the like. To metallize.
Metal carbonyls are particularly useful for carrying out the new process suitable. The carbonyl is in a pressure-resistant container on a corresponding high pressure and high temperature, this temperature being above the decomposition temperature the metal connection is at normal pressure.
-The metal compound is let out of this container through a nozzle step out. The relaxation that occurs at this exit brings it to low pressure the metal compound from the stable to the unstable state, so that it decomposes will. The metal compound or the decomposition products are due to the high im The pressure exerted at great speed on the surface of the container blown metallizing body. -
