Induktor verhältnismäßig geringen Querschnittes und einer Stromrückführung verhältnismäßig großen Querschnittes zusammenzusetzen. Es ist auch bekannt, die Stromdichte in den einzelnen Teilen des Heizleiters durch Anordnung verschiedener Querschnitte verschieden zu machen. Es ist aber bei derartigen Anordnungen nicht ohne weiteres möglich, die Stromdichte bzw. die Wärmewirkung in einzelnen Teilen des Heizleiters zu verändern. Die Erfindung betrifft eine Anordnung zur Oberflächenerwärmung von metallischen Werkstücken oder Werkstückteilen und besteht darin, daß die Stromdichte in einzelnen, von den dem Werkstück unmittelbar benachbarten Teilen des Heizleiters relativ zu der Stromdichte in dessen übrigen Teilen durch verbringen von nichtferromagnetischen Metallteilen in die Nähe der betreffenden Heizleiterteile willkürlich veränderbar ist.
