Der Apparat, welcher aus Schwarzblech oder Gufseisen hergestellt ist, besteht aus einem Feuerkasten A, welcher auf vier Füfsen ruht, einem Treppenrost B, einem Schüttkasten C, einer Ringplatte D und einem Aschkasten E. Beim Schmauchen von Thonwaaren im Ringofen wird die zu schmauchende Abtheilung durch zwei Schieber von dem übrigen Ofenraum
abgeschlossen und der Schmauchapparat mit einem Heizrohr dieser Abtheilung durch ein
Knierohr verbunden. Die Zugglocke wird geöffnet und der Apparat so lange gefeuert, bis
sich kein Schmauch mehr in der Abtheilung befindet. Ist der Ringofen mit einem oberen
Schmauchkanal versehen, so läfst man denselben functioniren und bringt den Apparat in der
Einkarrthür mittelst eines Rohres mit der Sohle der zu schmauchenden Abtheilung in Verbindung.
