Um die zu grofse Erhitzung der Verdichter, ihrer Kolben und Stopfbüchsen bei der Verdichtung zu vermeiden, wird vielfach das arbeitende Mittel, z.B. Ammoniak, nicht vollständig verdampft angesaugt, sondern zum Theil noch flüssig. Dieser flüssige Theil verdampft dann noch während des Ansaugens infolge des dort entstehenden verdünnten Raumes und kühlt die Verdichterwandungen, den Kolben und die Kolbenstange. - Diese Art Kühlung macht aber gegenüber dem Fall, dafs nur trockener Dampf angesaugt wird, einen um so viel gröfseren Verdichterraum nothwendig, als der bei dieser Verdampfung entstehende Dampf Raum einnimmt; dementsprechend erfordert der Verdichter auch mehr Arbeit.About the excessive heating of the compressors, their pistons and stuffing boxes during compression to avoid, the working agent, e.g. ammonia, is often incomplete evaporates, sucked in, but partly still liquid.
