Description
Process for the preparation of aliphatic ß-ketocarboxylic acid esters For the production of ß-ketocarboxylic acid esters from the corresponding nitriles preferably the route via the imidoether hydrochloride is chosen, which is known runs with good yield. However, this route is for manufacturing in a larger, especially on an industrial scale not favorable, since the reaction is only completely with one anhydrous alcohol and only at temperatures at or below 0 ° these good yields supplies. In addition, the calculated amount of hydrochloric acid must expediently be used and, because the reaction is quite exothermic, extensive cooling take place. A special cooling system is therefore necessary for the technical execution.
As molar amounts of alcohol and hydrochloric acid gas are used in the formation of imido ethers are to be used, it is also necessary that the starting material already has a fairly high degree of purity and is completely dry. Requirements, which are seldom found in technology.
The direct conversion of nitriles into the corresponding esters is also not new. However, it also proceeds in the case of sterically unhindered people Nitrile group is by no means as uniform as it is, for example, in esterification is used to carboxylic acids, as the saponification or esterification process is common the nitriles, the acid amide stage remains. Therefore recommends z. B. Mirror, ("Reports of the German Chemical Society", Vol.Sr, p.296 [19281), the nitrile with an alcohol-sulfuric acid mixture (approximately in a volume ratio of 2: r) z35 ° to be heated. K y r i d e s and employees work in the same way (see. "Journal of organic Chemistry", Vol. 12, p. 584 [1947]), which contains nitrile in one Cook a mixture of equal amounts of alcohol and sulfuric acid for 4 hours. Both processes require a large amount of sulfuric acid, which is the work-up difficult.
However, these methods lead to the production of ß-ketocarboxylic acid esters not the goal, since cleavage very quickly at the required high reaction temperature and carbonic acid separation occurs. Also takes place at moderate temperatures below 10o ° with a correspondingly slower reaction rate, a significant elimination of CO2 instead, so that the application of this method to ß-Ketocarbonsäurenitrile does not correspond accordingly can be modified.
Siedepunkt 82 bis 85 0/ i2 mm.EXAMPLE 100 g of butyrylacetonitrile are mixed with zoo g of 900% ethyl alcohol mixed and passed in with stirring HCl gas, the temperature being raised to 4o can rise to 5o ° and then hold there. Starts after a short time the separation of NH4Cl. The reaction is complete when the mixture is almost saturated with hydrochloric acid is. The chlorammonium is separated off and worked up as usual. Yield 134g Ethyl butyrylacetate = 85% of theory. Boiling point 82 to 85 0/12 mm.
Example 2 100 g of butyrylacetonitrile are mixed with zoo g of isopropyl alcohol mixed with a water content of approximately 14%. Hydrochloric acid gas is passed in at a moderate pace one, whereby one does not let the temperature rise above 35 ° at the beginning. Has a Generous amounts of chlorammonium are formed, which can reduce the rate of hydrochloric acid discharge can be increased. When the mixture is saturated, the chlorammonium is separated off and the isopropyl butyrylacetate purified by distillation. boiling point 97 to 100 ° / 20 mm. Yield 85 to 90 1 / o of theory.
