Wenn eine feste Substanz, beispielsweise ein pulverisirtes, schwere Metalltheile oder andere Körper enthaltendes Mineral mit Wasser gemischt und in der Trommel einer Centrifuge behandelt wird, so sammeln sich alle festen Bestandtheile am Umfange derselben an, während das Wasser in der Mitte bleibt. Während des Centrifugirens findet die Auswärtsbewegung der festen Bestandtheile so schnell statt, dafs die schwereren Bestandtheile nicht Zeit genug haben, von den leichteren getrennt zu werden. Um diesen Uebelstand zu vermeiden, wird das pulverisirte Mineral gemäfs der vorliegenden Erfindung nicht mit Wasser, sondern mit einer klebrigen Flüssigkeit, beispielsweise Stärkekleister, Syrup oder schleimigen Extracten, Seetang oder von anderen Pflanzen, oder Wasserglas gemischt. Die benutzte Centrifugentrommel besitzt am oberen Ende einen nach innen vorstehenden Rand. Nach dem Beschicken der Trommel mit dem pulverisirten und mit der schleimigen Flüssigkeit gemischten Material bewegen sich die Theilchen beim Drehen der Trommel gegen den Umfang. Hierbei sind sie jedoch in ihrer Bewegung infolge der schleimigen Flüssigkeit so verzögert, dafs die schwereren Theile Zeit haben, sich infolge ihrer gröfseren Centrifugalkraft von den leichteren Theilen zu trennen und in einer äufseren Schicht am Umfange der Trommel abzulagern, von wo sie nach der Entfernung der leichteren Theile entfernt werden können.If a solid substance, for example a powdered, heavy metal part or other mineral containing solids mixed with water and placed in the drum of a centrifuge is treated, then all the solid constituents accumulate on the circumference of the same, while the water stays in the middle.
