Dies ist für luftgekühlte Brennkraftmaschinen besonders wichtig, weil diese im Gegensatz zu wassergekühlten Brennkraftmaschinen viel weniger versteifende Wände im Maschinengestell haben. Bei einem'weiteren bekannten Zweitaktdieselmotor mit Wasserkühlung hat das wassergekühlte Maschinengestell oben eine Abdeckwand.
