Description
Centrifugal liquid filter for cleaning dirty or contaminated gases. Conventional "vacuum cleaners", whether in industry or in the home, work by cleaning gases (air) laden with dust or dirt either via dry filters or liquid filters. Dry filters have the advantage that they work regardless of their position, but their degree of cleaning is limited by the size of the filter pores; in addition, these filter pores are very quickly closed and this leads to very high energy losses.
Liquid filters do not have these defects, but they are dependent on their position, because the subsequent separation of the filter liquid from the purified gas is achieved by gravity, which is position-dependent and only allows a certain amount of force to be used.
This problem is solved by the mode of operation set out in claim (1). The centrifugal liquid filter works via centrifugal force, which is independent of position, i.e. a vacuum cleaner, for example, can function in all positions, because the centrifugal force - as the invention provides - which is far greater than gravity, makes the vacuum cleaner independent of position and it remains unaffected by movement to a certain extent.
In addition, the centrifugal force causes the dirt or dust particles to separate from the filter fluid and settle on the container wall; this has the advantage that the filter fluid cleans itself and that the amount of filter fluid can be kept relatively small, which in turn has the advantage that the rotation work for the device can be kept relatively small. This invention is suitable for use in household vacuum cleaners because the design of the invention is relatively simple and the size of the device can be kept relatively small.^
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing and is described below: The container (1) has a core tube (2) in its center, which forms the axis of rotation. The core tube is widened on one side and provided with fan blades (3) that suck in the gas. The contaminated gas is then separated and pressed into the filter liquid (5) via two branches (4). The branches also separate the core tube. The contaminated gas is pressed through the filter liquid and passes around the shield (6) through the outlet openings (7) into the core tube and from there out of the system. The core tube is mounted (8) and, together with the entire apparatus, carries out the rotary movement that is brought about by a motor. The motor can be attached directly, i.e. the core tube can be the center of the motor, or the power can be transmitted via V-belts, for example. The branch and the outlet openings are equipped with flaps (not shown) that are opened by centrifugal force so that no filter fluid can flow out when the machine is at a standstill. There is a closable opening on the container (not shown) through which the filter fluid is changed.
