Closure for centrifuges

The subject of the innovation is a closure for a centrifuge according to the preamble of claim 1. 15

Although many different types of closures are known in the field of centrifuges, a closure that is easy to implement, inexpensive and easy to operate and at the same time highly reliable has not been known until now.

The aim of this innovation is therefore to provide a closure that is highly reliable despite its extremely simple design. 25

According to the innovation, this problem is solved by the technical teaching of the characterising part of claim 1.

It is important that a ring is rotatably mounted between the lid and the housing of the centrifuge, whereby by turning the ring one or more locking bolts that run between the lid and the housing are released or blocked.

a recess, whereby the ring has areas of full diameter between the recesses.

The locking bolts, in turn, are provided with a groove perpendicular to their longitudinal axis, which serves to accommodate the areas of full diameter of the ring.

The locking bolts can be attached either to the housing or to the cover and reach through corresponding recesses on the respective part. To lock, the cover is then placed on the housing so that the locking bolts reach into the corresponding recesses. It is important to ensure that the ring is in its open position, i.e. that the recesses in the ring match the position of the recesses for receiving the locking bolts. In this position, the cover can easily be placed on the housing and lightly pressed down. The ring is then turned so that the areas around the entire circumference engage in the grooves of the locking bolts and reliably prevent the cover from lifting off the housing.

One or more guide bolts are provided to secure the position of the ring. In addition, a further development of the innovation is intended to increase the sealing effect by placing an additional seal between the cover and the housing. To increase safety, a fixing device can also be provided that fixes the ring in the locking position, i.e. in the 0 position in which the cover cannot be lifted off the housing. This prevents the ring from coming loose accidentally.

In another embodiment of the innovation, it is provided that the areas of the ring with full diameter

are not flat but are slightly inclined. This means that if the ring is twisted, the incline of these areas pulls the cover more tightly onto the housing.

All information and features disclosed in the documents, including the summary, in particular the spatial configuration shown in the drawings, are claimed as essential to the invention insofar as they are new compared to the prior art, individually or in combination.

5 According to Figures 1 and 2, a cover

1 onto a housing 4. For fastening purposes, the cover 1 is provided with locking bolts 2 which pass through recesses 19 in the housing 4.

A ring 3 is mounted on the housing 4 so that it can rotate in the direction of arrows 13, 14. This ring 3 is guided via guide bolts 6 which engage in the corresponding grooves 8.

The adjustment of the ring 3 in the direction of the arrows 13, 14 is carried out by turning the rotary knob 7 in the direction of the arrows 15, 16. The conversion of the respective twisting movements into one another can be done, for example, as in the embodiment shown, by a gear wheel.

An additional seal 17 is provided between the cover 1 and the housing 4. To fix the ring 3 in its locking position, an electromagnet 5 is provided, which engages a finger 9. To lock, the finger 9 is extended by the electromagnet 5 and engages 0 in a recess 10 on the ring 3, so that it is mounted so that it cannot twist.

To lock, the cover 1 is now placed on the housing 4 in the direction of arrow 20 in the open position of the ring 3 (Figure 5,6) and lightly pressed on. The ring is then turned in the direction of arrow 14 so that the areas 18 of the ring again engage in the grooves 11 of the locking bolts 2.

The innovative closure creates a reliable connection between the lid and the housing of a centrifuge, which is inexpensive to manufacture and easy to use.
