The invention relates to a novel packaging unit for food.

Packaging units for food, such as sliced cheese or cold cuts, are known in a wide variety of designs. The disadvantage of the previous packaging units, however, was that different types of cheese and/or cold cuts either could not be combined in one package or at least only with the risk that they would influence each other in terms of taste and smell during storage. A larger selection for smaller stocks was therefore only possible for the consumer to a limited extent.

The invention is based on the object of creating a novel packaging unit that overcomes the disadvantages described above and enables the packaging of different flavors of food in one package without the taste and/or smell of the individual varieties being able to influence each other.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by a packaging unit for foodstuffs with a uniform base area or a multiplicity of interconnected partial base areas arranged next to one another in a plane, wherein a plurality of receiving recesses for the packaged goods are formed from the uniform base area or at least one receiving recess for each partial base area and the receiving recesses are closed in such a way that they can be opened separately.

In an advantageous embodiment of the novel packaging unit, it is provided that all receiving recesses are formed in the same direction from the plane of the uniform base area or the common plane of the partial base areas.

The invention further provides that the depth of all receiving recesses is essentially the same.

In addition, it is proposed that the partial base areas are designed so that they can be separated separately from the packaging unit.

Finally, the invention proposes that the receiving recesses are closed with a film that can be torn open separately with respect to the receiving recesses or with a plurality of tear-open films assigned to the receiving recesses.

In a particular embodiment of the invention, it can be provided that the film(s) is (are) substantially transparent, so

that the packaged goods are easily identifiable.

The new packaging unit makes it possible to put food of several flavors, such as several types of cold cuts or cheese, in one package. This allows a large selection for small storage, which makes the packaging unit according to the invention ideal for small households and guarantees a maximum of variety. This is of even greater interest as small households with one to two people are constantly increasing and already account for around 67%. In addition, consumers are also becoming increasingly selective and are focusing their needs on variety.

Another advantage of the new packaging unit is that each recess can be opened individually. This means that the individual types of sausage or cheese can be accessed one after the other, which guarantees maximum freshness.

Further features and advantages of the invention emerge from the attached schematic drawing, which illustrates a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, wherein:

Figure 1 is a plan view of a packaging unit according to the invention ; and

Figure 2 is a sectional view along the I-I line in Figure 1 .

The packaging unit 1 shown in Figure 1 has a substantially square base area 10, which can alternatively be designed in the form of four substantially square, interconnected partial base areas 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d arranged next to one another in a plane (indicated by the dashed lines). For the sake of simplicity, it is assumed in the following that there is a uniform base area 10.

In the example shown, four essentially circular receiving recesses 12a, 12b, 12c, 12d are formed in one direction from this base surface 10, as shown in Figure 2 for the receiving recess 12d. It is of course also conceivable that the receiving recesses are formed in different directions from the plane of the base surface, i.e. some of the receiving recesses downwards out of the plane and another part of the receiving recesses upwards out of the plane. Preferably, the depth of all receiving recesses is essentially the same.

The receiving recesses 12a, 12b, 12c, 12d of the packaging unit 1 according to the invention are closed at the top with a (preferably transparent) film 14 or a plurality of films 14a, 14b, 14c, 14d, as can be seen in Figure 2. The separate tearability is easily provided for the individual receiving recesses with a plurality of individually assigned tearable films. However, even with a uniform film, such separate tearability can be guaranteed by arranging perforations or the like along the corresponding lines (in the drawing essentially the dashed lines), so that when a receiving recess is torn open, the film parts for the other receiving recesses are not opened at the same time.

The features of the invention disclosed in the above description, in the drawings and in the claims can be essential for the realization of the invention in its various embodiments both individually and in any combination.
