Description

Water binding agent for aqueous osmotic pastes containing alkaline substances for wood For the osmotation of fresh or wet wood, it is known that Salt pastes are used, which, among other things, contain a considerable proportion of largely undissolved Contain fluorosodium. The salt pastes are made on the de-basified wood, in particular on sticks, applied rather thickly or troweled on. The salts migrate in the Over the course of weeks more or less deep into the interior of the wood cross-section and prevail often the core itself. Such salt pastes must be excellently spreadable and have an adherent shape. You may in particular by using the countercurrent principle Juice water that migrates out must never be dripping liquid and run off or slip off. To prevent this from happening, they are treated with water-binding substances, such as z. B. starch, clay, gum @ miarabicum, dextrin, animal glue and the like. To add. These are swelling agents, the applied skin itself then stick together when the water content increases and stick to the wood, so to speak. Such swelling agents have been used for osmosis pastes of the hitherto customary composition, which represent more or less neutral salt mixtures, have proven their worth. she however, show considerable disadvantages and sometimes even fail completely with the Pastes of a strongly alkaline nature that have recently been used for osmotization.

It is now proposed to use aqueous solutions containing alkaline substances Osmosis pastes for Wood, e.g. B. with such pastes with contents on organic salts such as phenolates, naphtholates od..dgl., As a water-binding Agents according to the invention to use an addition of water-soluble humic acid salts, such as B. alkali salts or ammonium salts.

Since such humic acid salts have long been used as liquefying agents z. B. for clay liquefaction in the pottery industry is used it. particularly surprising that they are pastes against alkaline osmotization behave in reverse and act as a water-binding agent. This phenomenon was all the less to be foreseen when it was also used as a liquefying agent in the clay industry Sulphite waste liquor when applied to alkaline osmotizing pastes as expected has a liquefying effect, i.e. does not bind water.

When using osmotization pastes with the one proposed according to the invention In addition, you get stiff osmotic spreads, which are a practical show impeccable behavior and only in exceptional cases during the water exchange to an insignificant extent an extremely small, practically negligible dripping demonstrate.

One is with the additives proposed according to the invention to the osmotizing pastes does not rely on the use of alkali humic acid in powder or granular form alone reliant. Huminates made from so-called colored charcoal can also be used with particular advantage or ground earthy lignite by treating with alkali lye, ammonia water Or corresponding carbonates, such as soda, staghorn salt or the like. Produce and use these as water-binding additives in the manufacture of the osmotizing pastes.
