Stackable packaging container

The innovation relates to a stackable packaging made of elastically deformable material, for example an oval or round-conical stackable bucket with a stackable lid, consisting of a bucket container, the bucket wall of which essentially widens conically from the bucket bottom to the bucket edge with an outwardly bent edge rim, a lid which can be put over the edge rim and has a recessed lid plate, which is designed in its edge area as a U which is open at the bottom, the outer leg of which is provided with an inwardly extending protruding nose which, when closed, positively encloses the edge rim on the outside and the inner leg of which is placed against the inner bucket wall in a sealing manner, the inner leg merging into the recessed lid plate and an annular space with crossbars is provided between the inner leg and the recessed lid plate, and a pivotable carrying handle attached to the bucket wall and molded on the outer edge area of the lid. Stackable containers with stackable lids of the type described have been known for a long time.

In a known lid for round-conical plastic buckets (DE-GM 77 37 436), a flange surrounds the outwardly curved edge of the bucket, into which a recessed lid plate is inserted. The lid plate extends at least to a depth that corresponds to the depth of the outer end of the flange or can even be slightly deeper.

The flange of this known cover merges into the recessed cover plate with a ring-shaped, circumferential, inwardly projecting inner shoulder. Between the inner shoulder and the flange wall, an annular space is formed that is open at the bottom, in which crossbars are arranged at equal intervals. Every second crossbar projects downwards from this annular space and forms a centering point when the cover is opened.

It is also known for the stackable lids according to DE-OS 30 Ol 656, DE-GM 69 25 892 and DE-GM 82 03 226 to retract the lid plate to approximately the height of the bucket edge bent outwards in order to obtain a recessed support surface for stacking packaging buckets on top of each other.

What all of these known packaging containers or buckets with lids for emulsion paints have in common is that there is an unused space between the fill level of the paint and the upper edge of the bucket for stirring, thinning or tinting when the bucket is closed.

Even the recessed lid design known from the state of the art does not significantly reduce this space above the filling level up to the lid, because the recessed depth only reaches to the depth of the outer bent bucket flange, so that in a 15 liter bucket at least a four centimeter high air space remains between the recessed lid plate and the color level.

These well-known buckets are stacked on top of each other on flat wooden pallets for transport, whereby standardized pallet heights, for example 1.08 m, must be maintained.

Three buckets are stacked on top of each other. For example, a 15 liter bucket has a height of 25 cm with a lid, which means that around 25% of the transport space on a pallet remains unused.

This causes unsatisfactory transport space utilization, which results in considerable costs for additional transport and increased environmental impacts due to transport.

In this state of the art, the invention is based on the task of improving the packaging containers of the type mentioned at the beginning in such a way that the previously unused manipulation space or space above the level of the packaging containers can be used as a transport space when the container is closed, whereby a simplified, stable and at the same time stackable construction of the lid enables cost-effective, fast and reliable mechanical closing of the containers or buckets as well as stable stacking.

This is achieved according to the invention in that an essentially horizontal collar (13) is arranged on the inner leg (12) at the level of the edge region (9), which merges into a cover wall (14) which is conical to the cover plate (8), the conicity (15) of which is slightly larger than that of the bucket wall (4), but coincides with the cover plate (8) in the plane of the latter, and in that the cover plate (8) has a depth (19) which is matched to the height of the filling level (22) of the bucket container (2) and to the packaging pallet (24), so that an extremely deepened lid (5) is formed, in which further bucket containers (2) can be inserted one above the other in a column-like manner.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the inner leg (12) has evenly spaced recesses (23).

In a further preferred embodiment of the invention, the cover wall (14) is smooth on the outside.

A further preferred feature of the packaging unit according to the invention provides that offset spacers (18) are evenly distributed on the crosspieces (17). These spacers (18) enable the lids (5) to be evenly stacked one inside the other and for them to be unstacking in a machine-friendly manner.

According to the invention, the elastically deformable material can consist of polypropylene, for example block polymer with a density of 0.902 g/cm^, a viscosity number of 290 cm^/g, a melt index of 4 to 18 g/10 min and a volume flow index of 5 to 10 cnw/10 min.

In a further particular embodiment of the invention, the depth of the cover plate (8) is approximately 10 to 50%, preferably 20% of the container height.

Several lids according to the invention can be stacked on top of each other so that the bucket containers can be closed mechanically.

These features ensure that all technological requirements that are placed on a packaging unit that is suitable for transport and can also be stacked can be met.

The packaging unit according to the invention allows additional and stable stacking of packaging units on top of one another. With the same transport space, significantly more packaging units can be shipped and transported because the previously unused handling space of the unit can be used as transport space. This leads to a reduction in transport costs and, as a result, to a reduction in environmental pollution because the payload per transport vehicle can be increased.

The extremely high insertion depth also enables the buckets to be stacked much more stably, which saves packaging and allows storage space to be used more efficiently.

The reduction of the air space above the filling material also increases the preservability of the filling material because the diffusion of air components into the filling material is reduced.

The transport-friendly, stackable packaging bandage 1 consists of a bucket container 2 with bucket base 3 and bucket wall 4 as well as a lid 5. The bucket wall 4 widens conically from the bucket base 3 to the bucket edge 6. The bucket edge 6 is bent outwards in the manner of an edge rim 7. The lid 5 has a recessed lid plate 8. The edge area 9 of the lid 5 is designed as a U that is open at the bottom, the outer leg 10 of which is provided with an inwardly projecting nose 11. This nose 11 surrounds the outer edge rim 7 of the bucket wall 4. The inner leg 12 lies against the inner bucket wall 4 in the closed state, forming a seal.
On the inner leg 12 there is a circumferential collar 13 which extends horizontally approximately at the level of the edge region 9 and merges into a cover wall 14 which tapers towards the cover plate 8. The cover wall 14 is inclined relative to the bucket wall 4 in such a way that its conicity 15 is slightly larger, but in the plane of the cover plate 8 it approximately matches the inclination of the cover wall 14 and the bucket wall 4.

Between the inner leg 12 and the cover wall 14, an annular space 16 is formed, which is open at the bottom and has crossbars 17 that are evenly spaced from one another. The crossbars 17 have stepped spacers 18 that prevent the jamming of stacked covers 5.

To better guide and release the lid 5 from the bucket rim 6, the inner leg 12 also has evenly spaced recesses 23.
The cover plate 8 is located in a recess 19 of the bucket container 2, which is far below the external fastening means 20 that hold a carrying handle 21. Between the filling level 22 of the paint filling in the bucket container 2 and the cover plate 8 there is only an air gap, which precisely prevents the cover plate 8 from being immersed in the paint.

The extreme insertion depth 19 creates a container-like lid 5 into which the bucket bottom 3 of a bucket container 2 can be inserted.

The usual high-bay warehouses have a usable height of 1.08 m. Due to the extreme recess depth 19 of the cover plate 8 of the cover 5, a total of 4 container buckets 2 can be stacked on top of each other with this compartment depth in the shelf. These 4 buckets stacked one inside the other, including the wooden flat pallet 24, reach a height of around 1.03 m. The container buckets 2 inserted into each other act like stiffened columns, so that their stability is increased even in rough transport operations.

The conicity of the lid wall 14 and the spacers 18 of the lid 5 enables the machine-compatible stacking and unstacking of the lids 5 for closing the bucket containers 2.

The packaging container according to the invention is a bucket and lid construction with which the manipulation space 25 in the packaging container itself can be used as a transport space for the first time.

The range of applications of the packaging container according to the invention is not limited to just oval containers. Containers with a round or square configuration are equally suitable for using the handling space 25 of a container for transport.
