Description
BeschreibungDescription
(DE 3917255A1)Aircraft are moved on the ground, for example from the handling area or during maintenance and transfer journeys, using aircraft tugs. Special adapter points are provided on the nose wheel supports of the aircraft for attaching the tow bars. A large number of tow bars are required at airports, as the adapters are designed differently depending on the type of aircraft. Even different types of aircraft with the same adapters are moved using different tow bars, as each type of aircraft has its own shear pin locks. This leads to a complex working method that is material and personnel intensive, and also involves risks. The invention solves the problem by means of a hydraulically operated tow bar (1) carried on the towing vehicle (2). The hydraulic protection of the tensile and compressive forces eliminates the need for shear pins and some of the tow bars that are therefore required. Other adapters (8) required for connection to the aircraft are carried in the towing vehicle and can be exchanged using a quick coupling if necessary. Since the design of the "carried tow bar" as an attachment does not require a special tractor design, it can also be retrofitted to a wide variety of tractor models. The various movement options of the tow bar (1) enable precise connection to the aircraft (3) and simple one-man operation. Control buttons (9) attached to the tow bar also enable precise adjustment. When driving empty, the tow bar is attached to the vehicle and locked (Fig. 2). Fig. 3 shows the extended tow bar with the various movement options. Fig. 1 shows the connection to the aircraft. This simple solution also makes the expensive and highly technical rodless towing methods, which require lifting the aircraft and critical deformation and stress on the nose wheel, appear highly questionable.
