Mixing and application capsule, preferably for dental purposes

The invention relates to a multi-component capsule with a dispensing nozzle, primarily for mixing dental materials. The capsule consists of a capsule body (1), in the interior of which one component (a) is housed in a pre-dosed manner. This capsule body is delimited on one side by a perforated wall (3), in front of which the second component is housed, preferably sealed in a foil cushion (2).

In an advantageous design of the capsule, this foil cushion is mounted hermetically sealed in front of the perforated wall. This means that there is no connection between the mixing chamber (7) and the ambient air. This leads to an extended shelf life of the filling material stored inside the capsule.

On the opposite side, the interior of the capsule body is closed by a break-off lid (4) which, preferably made in one piece, consists of a lid part (5) and a stamp part (6) protruding into the mixing chamber (7), whereby the mostly circular lid part can be broken off from the stamp part in the area of a predetermined breaking point (circular - 8). In an advantageous design of the capsule, this lid is glued or welded to the capsule body in the area of the circumferential projection (5).

Before use, the capsule is completely closed, at least as far as the interior (7) is concerned. Multi-layer membrane cushions can be used as foil cushions, in which the foil (9) facing the hole wall is preferably thinner than the outer foil (10).

The safety when tearing is increased by making the outside of the hole wall at an acute angle in the area of the edge to the hole or by providing it with sharp elevations or one or more spikes. Many dental mixing capsules have been specified, most of which also contain a foil pad. The liquid was always indirectly injected into the mixing chamber by applying pressure to the foil pad. However, with all known pads, pressure is exerted on the pad after activation by means of stamps or clips, or by pushing forward telescopic capsule parts. However, this brings with it the significant disadvantage of having to introduce the clip or a permanent stamp into the structural system of the capsule.

The capsule described here is activated by simply tapping it on a flat surface. This means that the liquid in the foil cushion is always emptied into the mixing chamber, except for a certain, constant and thus predeterminable remainder. Due to the different foil thicknesses, the

inner membrane (9) before the outer membrane (10) could be destroyed.

On the other hand, it is also possible to anchor the application forceps to the front of the capsule in the area of the bayonet provision or other suitable notches in order to activate the capsule with the help of the push-forward stamp.

After activation, the mixing capsule is mixed in a commercially available vibration mixer in the usual, material-specific time. It is astonishing that even with high-frequency mixing, no liquid flows back into the foil cushion and that the cushion remains folded up and empty, although after the cushion bursts there is usually a very large connection between the cushion and the mixing chamber and the mass in the mixing chamber is well and completely mixed without any further holding pressure having to be exerted on the cushion from the outside to keep it closed.

A cannula (14) is then mounted on the side of the capsule opposite the plunger, which can be anchored on the one hand on a thread or bayonet mechanism (15) on the outside of the mixing capsule (1) in the intended manner, but which on the other hand contains a paracentric mandrel (16) on the inside, which destroys the outer foil cushion membrane and thus establishes contact between the external environment and the mixing chamber for the first time.

Now the stamp is detached from the circular weld by tearing it off using a dispensing tong (13), the skids (11) of which anchor themselves in the notches provided (13), and pushed forward into the interior of the mixing chamber to dispense the mixed mass (A+B).

This design has particular advantages over the state of the art:

Differently shaped cannulas can be attached to the cartridge. This allows different dental filling materials to be precisely applied to the different teeth in the mouth.

On the other hand, the design requires the production of only three injection-molded plastic parts, which significantly reduces the manufacturing costs compared to the four parts otherwise required for known capsules. Also, only two injection-molded parts have to be assembled by the manufacturer.

The mountable cannula presses itself onto the foil cushion when mounted and ensures that the foil cushion cannot be filled with the filling compound emerging from the mixing chamber during squeezing. If no cannula were mounted, the mixing compound would be pressed into the foil cushion even if the foil cushion outer membrane was destroyed. It is therefore important that the

Capsule surface, which contains the perforated wall, is congruent with the inner surface of the cannula attachment point. In any case, it must be ensured that the foil cushion is prevented from filling up again, but this time with the mixed mass. The capsule system according to the invention is explained with the attached figures with reference to the numbers mentioned above.

Claims (1)

Expectations Mixing and application capsule, preferably for dental purposes, consisting of a capsule body containing one component and a mixing chamber, the mixing chamber being delimited on one side by a perforated wall, in front of which a foil cushion is mounted on the outside, which contains the other component, the other delimitation of which (opposite) is a lid, which is structurally made up of a lid part and a stamp part, the stamp being able to be pushed forward towards the interior of the mixing chamber after the mixing components have been mixed,
characterized in that, after mixing the mixing components, the dispensing cannula is mounted on the wall of the capsule body opposite the stamp above the foil cushion while simultaneously compressing the same. Capsule according to claim 1, characterized in that the membrane (10) of the foil cushion, which is still intact after activation and after mixing, is pierced by a spike attached to the cannula and that the cannula, on the side facing the hole wall, has a surface congruent with the capsule in the area of the foil cushion, which surface keeps the foil cushion closed during the pressing out of the mixed mass. Mixing capsule according to one of claims 1-5, characterized in that the area of the outer edge is designed with the help of spikes or sharp edges or projections so that a targeted bursting of the cushion occurs on the side facing the perforated wall. 7. Mixing capsule according to claim 1 and 2, characterized in that the application instrument for squeezing the mixed mass out of the capsule can be anchored on the side opposite the stamp for the purpose of activation.
