Description
For the production of the light-sensitive layer on material which can be used for the diazotype already used as light-sensitive substances diazo compounds, which differ from para-phenylenediamine derive and in which the non-diazotized amino group is secondary or tertiary. From the German U.S. Patent S31 S04 and U.S. Patent 2,336,309 are also for the above purpose such diazo compounds derived from para-phenylenediamine have become known, which on nitrogen the non-diazotized amino group is alkyl radicals with external atomic groups, e.g. B. substituted Amino groups or hydroxyl groups etherified by aliphatic hydrocarbon radicals. Man uses such diazo compounds primarily for production because of their low coupling activity so-called two-component diazotype layers, which are developed dry.

The diazo compounds to be used according to the invention are distinguished by high coupling activity, which makes them particularly useful for semi-wet development makes suitable. As a result, there is also the possibility of developing solutions from only weak alkalinity, even those with a neutral setting for creating high-contrast breaks to use what was previously only possible with the diazo compounds from acylated p-phenylenediamines was.
By introducing substituents in R 2 , for example halogen atoms, or by enlarging this radical, the coupling process during depolishing can often be accelerated. The diazo compounds according to the invention, which are advantageously used in the form of the water-soluble diazonium salts or double salts, depending on the azo component used - as such, primarily polyoxybenzenes such as phloroglucinol and resorcinol - images with deep black or brown lines. The hues can also be influenced by substituents in the phenylene radical containing the diazo cap. Positive substituents generally cause the shade to be lightened. Such diazo compounds are suitable for the production of well covering intermediate originals.
The light-sensitive layers can contain the usual stabilizers in the form of inorganic or contain organic acids, acid salts and salts of aromatic sulfonic acids. Also anti-yellowing agents, in particular thiourea and its water-soluble derivatives can be present in the layers to improve the reason to be present in the finished breaks. By using suspensions of finely divided silicon dioxide or of silicates of the alkaline earth metals in the sensitizing solutions the photosensitive material can be further improved so that pauses with increased Contrast can be obtained.
For the preparation of the diazo compounds claimed according to the invention, more known ones are used Procedure. One starts, for example, from the mono-alkylated amines with the toluenesulfonic acid esters of glycol monoaryl ethers or the aryl ethers of ethylene chlorohydrin or ethylene bromohydrin to be implemented. The obtained aryloxyalkylated aminobenzenes are converted into azo dyes by coupling with diazotized sulfanic acid or diazotized aniline which the corresponding phenylenediamines are obtainable by reduction, which in the usual manner in the Diazo compounds can be converted. The amino group can also be introduced by nitrosation the tertiary bases and reduction of the nitroso compounds take place.
The corresponding sulfur compounds can be obtained in an analogous manner. One used in this Case the thioaryl ethers of thiochlorohydrins as starting materials for the reaction with the secondary Bases.
! i. To prepare a spreadable solution, 0.1 g of gelatine, 0.5 g of citric acid, 2 g of ammonium sulfate and 1.8 g of the zinc chloride double salt of N-ethyl-N- (ß - phenoxyethyl) - ρ - phenylenediamine - diazonium chloride (formula 1) dissolved in water so that 100 ecm of solution is obtained. In this way, a base paper suitable for the production of tracing paper is coated in the usual way and, after drying, exposed under a transparent drawing template. The exposed paper is treated with a developer solution which contains 2 g soda, 2.5 g borax, 3 g thiourea, 4 g sodium sulfate, 0.4 g phloroglucin, 0.4 g resorcinol, 0.03 g saponin in 100 ecm water . The resulting high-contrast pauses show deep black, somewhat red-tinged lines on a white background that do not bleed. The coupling speed of the diazonium chloride-zinc chloride double salt used is so high that the azo dye can also be produced with a neutral to weakly acidic developer (pH = 7 to 6.5) and thus sufficient development is achieved. For example, a developer containing 10 g of tertiary sodium citrate, 5 g of sodium benzoate, 5 g of anhydrous sodium acetate, 0.7 g of phloroglucinol, 0.03 g of aceto aceticanilide and 0.03 g of saponin, dissolved in water to a 100 ecm solution, is obtained and reacts neutrally, bluish black copies.
The diazo compound with formula 1 is represented by N-ethyl-N- (/ j-phenoxy-ethyl) aniline (C lern o and P erkin, journal of the Chemical Society, 121 [1922], p. 645) nitrosated, subsequently the nitroso compound is reduced and the reduction product is diazotized or by the from the aforementioned Reduced N-tertiary aniline obtained by coupling of diazotized sulfanusic acid azo dye and diazotized in a known manner.
For example, 52 g of N-ethyl-N- (^ -phenoxyethyl) -aniline are suspended in 520 ecm sulfuric acid (30%) and nitrosated with 40 ecm sodium nitrite solution (33%). By introducing zinc dust at 25 to 30 0 , the nitroso compound is reduced. The sulfuric acid solution is mixed with 150 g of ice and diazotized with 35 ecm of sodium nitrite solution (33 0 / ,, J. The diazo compound initially precipitates as oil. 60 g of sodium chloride are added to the reaction mixture and this is stirred until the chlorozinc double salt The crude product is purified by dissolving it in 1500 ecm of 50 "water, filtering the solution through animal charcoal and separating the chlorzinc double salt by adding 140 g of common salt.
2. Man löst 1,7 g des Chlorzinkdoppelsalzes des N-Äthyl-N- (ß-phenyl-mercapto-äthyl) -p-phenylendiamin-diazonium-chlorids (Formel 2), 0,5 g Weinsäure, 0,5 g Aluminiumsulfat und 6 g 1, 3, 6-naphthalintrisulfosaures Natrium in Wasser und stellt die Lösung auf 100 ecm ein. Mit dieser Lösung wird Papier in bekannter Weise gestrichen und nach dem Trocknen2. 1.7 g of the zinc chloride double salt of N-ethyl-N- (ß-phenyl-mercapto-ethyl) -p-phenylenediamine diazonium chloride are dissolved (Formula 2), 0.5 g of tartaric acid, 0.5 g of aluminum sulfate and 6 g of 1, 3, 6-naphthalenetrisulfonic acid Sodium in water and adjust the solution to 100 ecm. This solution turns paper into Painted in a known manner and after drying
The exposed paper is developed using the method described in Example ι called alkaline solution. You get pauses with very strong, deep black images that do not have any Show a tendency to bleed out in the dye. Compared to the breaks available according to Example ι the contrast is even better here and the color tone! somewhat more neutral, so that the semitones in the Breaks appear purely black.
