Process for the heat treatment of weld seams and welding rod therefor
It is known that in steel or steel alloys the structure of welds,
which consist of several layers, as a rule, is uneven in that all
Layers apart from the last welded on a more or less fine-grain structure
have, while the last welded layer has a coarse-grained cast structure.
This unevenness is due to the fact that each layer is caused by the heat of welding
the weld bead placed on it is grained to a certain depth. The last one laid
On the other hand, the weld layer always has a coarse-grained cast structure through and through. This
The cast structure has, in particular, during welding due to the one-sided heat dissipation
Directional crystallization has lower mechanical quality values than a fine-grained one
Material of the same composition.
abgegeben. To achieve recrystallization of the top layer of a weld seam,
it was previously necessary to place the entire welded workpiece on one above the A. transformation point
located temperature to heat. Was this - for example due to excessively large dimensions
of the subject in question - not possible, so one proceeded in such a way that
a bead was also welded onto the last weld bead.
such as turning, grinding, planing or the like, had to be completely processed again.
In this way one also got one over the whole cross-section
more
or less fine-grained weld seam. Furthermore, it is no longer new, a weld
to coat with a soldering metal for tempering and, furthermore, the weld seam
cover to protect against sudden cooling and the cover if necessary
to heat. It is also known that the grain size of the uppermost weld bead is applied
carry out the way that a welding rod is welded on it, which no
Leaves precipitation on the weld seam. This is to be achieved by
that a welding rod made of mild steel is wrapped with cotton, which then with solutions
is soaked in highly oxidizing substances such as chromates, permanganates. At the

has been proposed that, in addition to one of highly oxidizing substances, e.g. B. Brownstone
and chlorate 'existing coating, another coating of non-hyoroscopic

can become coarse-grained. In addition, the heat is very quickly returned to the environment
submitted.
erforderlich.According to the invention, the weld is completed in the usual way.
A welding rod is now also welded onto the top layer, but it is
In contrast to the known method, a slag cover results that is exactly
like the slag that arises when welding heavily coated jacket electrodes,
can be removed, for example, by light hammering. The welding to the

The weld seam is fine-grained over its entire cross-section. Through the cinder cover
it is achieved that i. the heat is not given off directly to the weld seam and this
as a result, the surface cannot be overheated, 2. the weld seam
is kept at the same temperature for a longer period of time and 3. the weld seam is not too fast
cools, thereby avoiding the occurrence of tension. A mechanical processing
the top layer of the weld seam recrystallized in this way is not
necessary.
