PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
In patent specification no. 69265, as well as in its additions (patents no. 74059, 74060 and 83523) is a process for the preparation of secondary disazo dyes that directly dye cotton which consists in using the diazo compounds of the so-called sulphurized condensation products of p-toluidine and m-xylidine (dehydrothio-p-toluidine, Dehydrothio-m-xylidine, primulin base) or the sulfonic acids of these thio derivatives initially with certain further diazotizable amido compounds described in more detail in the individual patents coupled and on the amidoazo bodies thus formed after diazotizing the following Dioxynaphthalene sulfonic acids take effect:
CL1 a4-Diöxynaphtalin-α-monosulfosäure (erhältlich aus CL - Naphtoldisulfosäure S des Patentes Nr. 40571 durch Verschmelzen mit Alkalien gemäfs Patent Nr. 67829), CL 1 a 4 -dioxynaphthalene-α-monosulphonic acid (obtainable from CL - naphtholedisulphonic acid S of patent no. 40571 by fusing with alkalis in accordance with patent no. 67829),
Ct1 a4 - Diöxynaphtalin - a.2 ßx- disulfosäure (erhältlich aus der beim Weitersulfiren von a-Naphtoldisulfosäure S entstehenden ct-Naphtoltrisulfosäure durch Verschmelzen mit Alkalien),Ct 1 a 4 - Diöxynaphtalin - a. 2 ß x - disulphonic acid (obtainable from the ct-naphtholtrisulphonic acid formed by further sulphuring of a-naphthol disulphonic acid S by fusing with alkalis),
α λ a 4 - dioxynaphthalene - ß 2 ß s - disulfonic acid (obtainable from the a - naphthol trisulfonic acid described in patent no. 56058 by fusing with alkalis in accordance with patent no. 67563).
It has now been shown that the middle components in the main patent and in its additives further diazotizable amido derivatives used with advantage by the Can replace the following amidonaphthol sulfonic acids:
ß1-Amido-ct3-naphtol-ß4-monosulfosäure (erhältlich nach dem Verfahren des englischen Patentes Nr. 2614, 1893 durch Verschmelzen der ßj-Naphtylamin-ctg ß4-disulfosäure mit Alkalien),ß 1 -amido-ct 3 -naphthol-ß 4 -monosulfonic acid (obtainable according to the process of the English patent No. 2614, 1893 by fusing the ßj-naphthylamine-ctg ß 4 -disulfonic acid with alkalis),
P 1 -amido- a 3 -naphtol-ct ^ 4 - disulphonic acid (obtainable according to patent no. 80878 by sulphuring ß-naphtylamine-y-monosulphonic acid or ß-naphtylamine monosulphonic acid F and fusing the P 1 -naphthylamine-Ct 1 a 3 ß 4 -trisulfonic acid with alkalis).
Also that by combining these amidonaphthol sulfonic acids with the diazo compounds of the above-mentioned thioproducts resulting amidoazo bodies have the property of being diazotize again and couple with the dioxynaphthalene sulfonic acids listed above permit.
But while after the main patent and the first two additions, green respectively brown products and, according to the third addition, Patent No. 83523, violet dyes are obtained, but according to the use of the amidonaphthol sulfonic acid G and the amidonaphthol disulfonic acid H another one
ausgesprochenen Stich ins Graue zeigen, gelangt man mittelst der beiden vom P1-Amido-α 3-naphtol sich ableitenden Sulfosäuren zu klaren rothvioletten bis blauvioletten und violettblauen Baumwollfarbstoffen, die aufserdem bezüglich Lichtechtheit alle bisher im Handel befindlichen Substantiven violetten Farbstoffe bei weitem übertreffen.show a pronounced tinge of gray, the two sulfonic acids derived from P 1 -amido-α 3 -naphthol lead to clear red-violet to blue-violet and violet-blue cotton dyes which, in terms of lightfastness, by far exceed all nouns violet dyes currently on the market.

A 24 kg dehydrothiotoluidine corresponding solution of the diazo compound of this base läfst is well cooled in a staggered with sodium carbonate or acetate of soda in positive Schufs solution of 32 kg ßj-amido OEG naphtol-Ct einfliefsen 1 ß 4 -disulfosäure. When the formation of the intermediate Productes is finished, which tends to be the case after a short time, you can still briefly heated to 70 to 80 0 C, salted out and filtered off. The isolated intermediate product is then slurried again with water and converted into its diazo compound by adding 6.9 kg of nitrite and the corresponding amount of hydrochloric acid. After about twelve hours of standing in the cold, this is finished. It is then filtered and added to a solution of 26.2 kg of OL 1 a 4 -dioxynaphthalene - α - monosulphonate of soda, to which sodium acetate has been added. It is then left to stand again for 12 hours, heated again, made alkaline with soda, and the disazo dye formed is isolated by salting out, filfringing, pressing and drying. On unheated cotton, it creates a violet that is resistant to the effects of light and alkalis.
The other dyes are obtained in the same way; you only need to use or a mixture of such thioproducts instead of the dehydrothiotoluidine used in the above example, one of its above-mentioned analogs or the sulfonic acid of one of these derivatives or a mixture of such thioproducts. to replace the ßj-amido-ag-naphthol-ctj ß 4 -disulfonic acid with the corresponding ß 4 -monosulfonic acid or the last : Ct 1 a 4 -dioxynaphthalene-ct-monosulfonic acid by another of the dioxynaphthalene sulfonic acids listed above.
