Description

Production of hydrazine It is known from urea and alkaline Hypochlorite solution to produce hydrazine. According to a known method here is in the presence of aldehydes or ketones, after another in the presence of glue worked. Without the addition of aldehydes or ketones or without the addition of glue the yields are very low. But even with these additives are the yields achieved not particularly high.

Ketone, sehr gute Ausbeuten an Hydrazin. Man erhält etwa 6o% Ausbeute an Hydrazin.It. it has been found that urea and alkaline hypochlorite solution can be used in the absence of additives, such as glue or aldehydes or ketones, to good yields hydrazine can be obtained if pure sodium hydroxide is used. In particular, was found that the presence of iron and copper in the caustic soda is harmful. the The yield depends on the purity of the caustic soda used. A technical one Sodium hydroxide solution with 45 percent by weight Na O H was z. B. only 611 / o yield of hydrazine. When using a commercially available Ätzn.atrons in flakes, the yield was only 20a / a obtain; on the other hand, pure caustic soda can be used without additives such as glue or aldehydes or ketones, very good yields of hydrazine. Compliance short There is no need for residence times after the reaction solutions have been mixed. The new process can be carried out both continuously and discontinuously. Example i 6 g of urea are mixed with 10 g of sodium hydroxide solution (Merck puriss.) And 10 cc mixed with distilled water and cooled to 0 to 5 °. ioo cc one a mol. -Sodium hypochlorite solution, made by introducing chlorine into a solution of caustic soda (Merck puriss.), are also cooled to 0 to 5 °. The reaction solutions are mixed and, after standing for about 10 minutes, quickly heated to 100 °. You get about 60% yield of hydrazine.

Examples The same reaction solutions as in Example i, are mixed at room temperature and then adjusted in cold mixture to 20 ° brought. It is then heated to 100 ° by introducing steam. The yield of hydrazine is 60 0/0. When using a commercially available 45% sodium hydroxide solution, only 20% hydrazine are obtained under the same reaction conditions.
