Process for the preparation of esters of chloroformic acid It has been
found that one carbamid.säurehaltige esters of chloroformic acid in technical
can easily be obtained by using carbamic acid esters containing oxy groups,
which still carry a hydrogen atom on the nitrogen, with phosgene, expediently below
50 ° and using an inert solvent, implemented.

Use: methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, butyl, isobutyl, cyclohexyl, benzyl and phenyl esters of ß-oxyäthylcarbamic acid, ß- and y-oxypropylcarbamic acid, ß-, y- and 8-oxybutylcarbamic acid, α-, 3- and q-oxyphenylcarbamic acid; the ethylene, propylene, butylene, pentamethylene and hexamethylene glycol-bis-esters of oxyethyl and oxypropyl carbamic acid, in which the hydrocarbon chains of the alkylene and alkyl radicals are replaced by heteroatoms, such as. B. O, N and S, or groups carrying hetero atoms, such as SO or S 02, can be interrupted. In addition, carbamic acid esters containing oxy groups are suitable for the present process, for. B. nor the monocarbamic acid esters of glycols, such as. B. the o.) Oxyäthyl-, -propyl- and -butyl esters of N-methyl, N-ethyl, N-propyl and N-butylcarbamic acid and N, N'-ethylene, propylene, butylene - and -hexamethylene-bis-carbamic acids.
in Frage: Methylenchlorid, Chloroform, Tetrachlorkohlenstoff, Aceton, Cyclohexanon,
Essigester, Dioxan, Tetrahydrofuran, Benzol, o-Dichlc>rbenzol, Toluol und Xylol. The reaction of the carbamic acid esters mentioned with phosgene is expedient
carried out at temperatures below 5o ', the use of an inert solvent
advantageous
is. As a solvent. Of the type mentioned z. B.
in question: methylene chloride, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, acetone, cyclohexanone,
Ethyl acetate, dioxane, tetrahydrofuran, benzene, o-dichlorobenzene, toluene and xylene.
The chloroformic acid esters containing carbamic acid groups fall into
high purity and yield. A formation of by-products through cyclization
or by condensation to form high molecular weight products takes place remarkably
not held.
Those containing carbamic acid groups obtained by the present process
Chloroformic acid esters can, for. B. as intermediate products for the manufacture of plasticizers, '
Paint raw materials. and plastics are used. Example i Into a solution of
12o parts by weight of phosgene in 3oo parts by weight of methylene chloride is at 5 to
1o ° 'a mixture of 16o parts by weight of butyl co-oxyethyl carbamate and
300 parts by weight of methylene chloride entered with vigorous stirring. Then will
the mixture was heated to 50 ° 'for 1 hour while a gentle stream of phosgene was passed through.
The reaction mixture is then blown with dry air at the same time
Temperature still unchanged phosgene together with the hydrochloric acid gas formed.
After the methylene chloride has been distilled off under reduced pressure, the
Chloroformic acid ester of butyl oxyethyl carbamate in the form of a pale yellowish,
viscous oil. The yield is 220 parts by weight.
- butylenglykolester in 12oo Gewichtsteilen
Examples 26o parts by weight of phosgene are dissolved in 600 parts by weight of dioxane
solved. Then a slurry of 33o parts by weight of bis is added dropwise at -5 °
- (co - oxybutyl - carbamic acid) - 1, q. - butylene glycol ester in 1200 parts by weight
Dioxane too. The reaction mixture is, with further introduction of 130 parts by weight
P'hosgen heated to 50 '°. Then dry air is blown through and the dioxane
distilled off under reduced pressure. The bis-chlorocarbonic acid ester remains behind
of the said Bds-carbamic acid ester as a waxy mass. The yield is
4q.o parts by weight, i.e. H. 99% of theory.
