Description

Process for the production of powdered or finely divided Caustic alkali It is known to convert alkali hydroxide into a solid, easy-to-use one Convert form that one brings anhydrous alkali hydroxide to melt and the melt by means of suitable devices in the form of beads, scales or the like. freezes. It is also known that alkaline solutions in a vacuum at high Temperatures (i8o °) can evaporate to anhydrous or up to io ° / o containing water To produce alkali hydroxides. Artificial cooling to io ° and below can you freeze out of aqueous alkali hydrates, which after separation from the When thawing, the mother liquor dissolves into an approximately 50% alkali liquor. Furthermore it is known that around 60 parts of sodium hydroxide are in 100 parts of cold water or 100 parts of potassium hydroxide.

It has now been found that it is easy to get solid, light Alkali hydroxide to be handled gets when you use liquid alkali lye with about 6o to 70% alkali hydroxide content cools down to below its melting point and the mass keeps moving. In this way, solid caustic alkali can be converted from powdery Gain uniform consistency, which retains its scatterable shape when stored and dissolves very easily in water. It was also found that caustic alkali in this form can also be obtained by using the specified liquid alkali Concentration, for example finely distributed by atomizing and they solidified in this state.

For example, one obtains from a sodium hydroxide solution with a content of 700 / c, N a OH, which is slowly cooled from 9o 'onwards, with constant stirring in a suitable: mixing device, e.g. B. Werner Pfleiderer mixer, a light one Mobile, scatterable powder that is easy to handle and can be immersed in water dissolves very quickly.

The advantage of the method according to the invention consists, among other things in that one from liquid alkali solutions at relatively low temperatures receives solid caustic alkali in a particularly suitable and high quality form. Here is the material of the apparatus is not subjected to any noteworthy chemical stress in contrast to the known processes that use molten anhydrous caustic alkali work at much higher temperatures.

Beispiele r. Examples r. A sodium hydroxide solution with 60% Na0 H is passed through at 90 ' Nozzles of 2 mm diameter distributed and the resulting drippers. through one with Nitrogen-filled shaft freely dropped at a temperature of 18 '. Almost spherical structures are formed that are easy to move and can be stored well.

Potash lye with 70) /, KOH is left on at a temperature of 85 ' a polished steel plate that is cooled by water to a temperature of about 15 'is held, drip on. When solidifying, hemispherical or lozenge-like form Moldings that are removed from the plate by a scratch. The bricks are easy to store and do not bake together.

In caustic soda with 680% NaOH, which has a temperature of 80 °, A V 2 A drum, cooled by internal cooling with tap water to about = 0 °, emerges. The caustic soda solidifies in a thin layer on the cooling roller. With help of a The sodium hydroxide solution is removed using a scraper or other suitable device Solidifying scraped off, breaking the solid product into small flakes. That Solid product produced in this way has a good shelf life and is used for many technical purposes suitable.
