errechnen lassen (vgl.
Fließlänge u. a. m.
Process for the production of pitches with a relatively high
Content of gel resins (C II resins) In the aluminum industry, for the production of electrodes,
also for metallurgical purposes in general and for the production of pipe winding compounds
it is desirable to use a pitch with the highest possible content of so-called CII resins,
these are the tar resins that are separated from the insoluble in anthracene oil from the insoluble in benzene
can be calculated (see R. Hodurek, Mitteilungen des Institut für Kohlenvergasung
i [igig], 9, ig, 28), because the content of these resins has a certain relationship
stands for the yield of suitable coke. But while the content of these resins
if at least 27% is desired, the hitherto indicated the most varied
Process obtained pitches usually only have a C II resin content of 13% to
at most 23 ° / o. However, all of the methods known so far were aimed
for the refinement of tars, tar oils and pitches mainly aimed at a pitch
to obtain the properties of which come as close as possible to petroleum bitumen; d.
H. one limited oneself to establishing whether there were certain methods of investigation
on a physical basis, namely with regard to the margin between the
Softening point and breaking point, with regard to the drop test, the evaporation test,
Flow length i.a. m. Precisely specified requirements regarding the content of tar resins
were not asked, however, and so there has not yet been any reason to do so
To develop a process that enables a minimum content of gel resins to be achieved
Goal has.
There are probably z. B. Process known, tars, oils or
Pitch by oxidation at higher temperature, treatment with flowing air or.
like. to thicken, d. H. to increase their pitch content, or rather pitch them with noble ones
To transform properties that come close to those of petroleum bitumens, or the latter
to improve oneself in terms of these noble properties.
None of the known procedures, however, aimed to have a bad luck with
to produce a high content of C II resins (gel resins) above a certain limit,
which in turn is fundamental for the coke yield and thus for the suitability
for the production of electrodes.
A single German patent specification, No. 746 3:16, deals with it
with this subject by describing a process that enables the removal of the
Zinc from the electrode pitch ensured by centrifuging the tar beforehand.
The method according to the invention now clearly aims to
to produce a pitch, which by its content, which is considerably above? 7 0'0
of CII resins (gel resins) meets the requirements that one would expect of an electrode pitch
represents. This goal is achieved by blending tars or pitch with tar oils
and with the addition of ferric chloride at temperatures of 15o to 16o ° about 8 to 16
Treated with flowing air for hours. It has been shown that the
extraction of a pitch achieved by this process with a C 11 resin (gel resin)
Content of about 30% is largely independent of the origin of the pitch, so that
both gasworks, Kol; ereiteere and others are used with equal success
can be. The ferric chloride not only plays the role of the oxygen carrier,
but also has a chemical effect by initiating or reducing a condensation process.
causes; proof of this may be that the same result can be achieved without treatment
with flowing air by the mere presence of ferric chloride at the indicated
Can achieve temperature, although this, however, much longer reaction times
will be required.
Zieht man in Betracht,
Beispiel i Ein Gemisch
