Um diesem Nachteil abzuhelfen, hat man versucht, durch Zumischen von wärmedämmenden Rohstoffen, wie Holzmehl, Korkschrot, Schilf u. dgl., Platten mit besseren Isoliereigenschaften zu erhalten. Organische Stoffe müssen, um das Abbinden nicht zu stören, vorher mineralisiert werden, wodurch aber die Dämmwirkung zum großen Teil verlorengeht. Höhere Zusätze von anorganischen Isolierstoffen, wie Biras und Schlacke, verringern wiederum die Härte und Abriebfestigkeit. Man müßte daher zu dem umständlichen Verfahren übergehen, daß man zuerst einen wärmeisolierenden Untergrund, z. B. Schlackenbeton oder Bimsestrich, herstellte, auf welchen dann nach dessen Erhärtung die Anhydritplatten verlegt würden. Diese Arbeitsmethode verlangte aber zwei getrennteArbeitsgänge sowie eine zusätzliche weitere Mörtel- oder Klebemittelzwischenschicht.
