Description
Method for monitoring high-voltage cables that are not in service It it often happens that high-voltage cables are not in operation for a long time it is that the cables and supply only temporarily used systems or that they are intended as a reserve for other cables. It is in such cases It is important to monitor these cables in order to identify insulation faults in good time and to be able to remove it, so that the cable, when it is to be put into operation, is actually ready for use. A measurement taken from time to time the insulation resistance has the disadvantage that an error may occur long after its appearance it is found that it has time to spread out, thereby turning the necessary repair work enlarged.
According to the invention, such cables will therefore always have a high level DC voltage, which is below the breakdown voltage of the cable, is applied and the insulation current measured. Exceeding the normal insulation current, which can be determined on display instruments then indicates immediately the occurrence of errors, which are detected very shortly after their occurrence and can be eliminated. Given if necessary, an alarm device can also be used are provided, which when the insulation current increases up to a certain Value appeals.
By choosing high voltage direct current for the purposes of the invention, where the voltage is slightly below the breakdown voltage of the cable to be monitored is chosen, it is achieved with certainty that even looping errors, such as. B. slow penetration of moisture through a small damage to the jacket, can be recognized with certainty in the shortest possible time, which is the case with the choice of low voltage would not be the case for monitoring purposes. The choice of DC voltage for the purpose of the invention has the advantage that there is practically no power consumption occurs, while with high voltage alternating current always with dielectric losses and a reactive power consumption would have to be expected, which may also take on very great values. could.
