Mechanische Hebezangen sind in der Regel mit 2 Greifarmen ausgestattet. Es gibt aber auch Hebezangen mit 4 Greifarmen. Dabei besteht der Kraft- und Lastarm aus einem Teil. Bei 3 Greifarmen würden sich die Kraftarme gegenseitig behindern. Es ist also nicht möglich, eine 3-armige Zange nach dem herkömmlichen Schema zu bauen. Man kann das Problem dadurch lösen, daß Kraft- und Lastarm aus 2 verschiedenen Teilen bestehen, wobei der Kraftarm vom Zangenmittelpunkt nach außen führt. Dadurch wird eine gegenseitige Behinderung vermieden. Mit insgesamt 4 Gelenkpunkten kann der Kraftarm um 180 Grad umgelenkt werden.Mechanical lifting tongs are usually equipped with 2 gripping arms.
