Description
Process for achieving proper power supply to the thin metal layers of electrical capacitors For electrical capacitors has recently been dispensed with the insertion of independent occupancy foils and the Coverings formed by a metallization of the dielectric insulating material layers. For example, paper tapes are applied on one or both sides by: vapor deposition, Cathode sputtering or the like metallized and then further processed into a capacitor winding. One disadvantage inherent in these capacitors is: the difficulty in making them flawless To create power supply lines to the thin metal layers. As is well known, he must Electricity at as many places as possible on the pavement, if possible on the entire pavement edge, are supplied to avoid ohmic losses and overloading of the power supply points and the like to be avoided.
It has therefore already been proposed that the end faces of one of these to metallize the capacitor produced in whole or in part and to use these metal layers as power connections. Apart from the on Finished winding necessary operation, which is not always feasible, closely related not always the desired success. The turning of the metallized ribbons by i 8o ', such that the metal surface faces outwards requires special hemming devices. and at the same time means a poorer utilization of the available Metal surface for the capacitive effect.
As already stated elsewhere, it was therefore appropriate to the paper strips during the metallization at the same time on the longitudinal edge and even Co-metallize on a narrow edge strip on the opposite side to achieve the desired to get metallic end face of the finished winding. But now it is inexpedient the paper tapes to metallize in the final width. Much more apply very wide paper webs provided with a metal layer from which the subsequently cut out the required strips. "-earth. With such strips of paper there is no metallization of the edges during the production of the metal coating possible. A further metallization of the cut bands only on the edge requires rewinding and complicated sealing devices :, um not also to metallize metal-free zones.
This is where the invention begins, according to which the insulating strips be wound up into a roll and this roll on one or both end faces is metallized, whereby the entire edge is covered with a metal layer in the simplest possible way can be provided in the desired shape.
To ensure complete security for an electrical connection between the Edge metal layer and the one previously or afterwards applied to the surface of the insulating tape To ensure metal supports or even a narrow edge strip on the To metallize the back of the insulating tape, it is still advisable to in front of the metallization on the end face, place the roll on a conical base od. The like. To open up, so that each turn the previous turn by a certain one Piece, for example by the strength of the individual turn, protrudes. Only after that the metallization of the front face, which is now likewise conical, or takes place Front sides of the insulating roller. Depending on whether the tape is already on the surface is metallized, and depending on which area the covering layer is assigned is, one or the other end of the roll is metallized.
More details about this can be seen in the drawing.
In Fig. i ist zunächst eine Rolle Isolierstoffband a im Schnitt dargestellt, deren Stirnseite b gemäß der Erfindung metallisiert worden ist.In Fig. I, a roll of insulating tape a is first shown in section, the end face b has been metallized according to the invention.
In Fig. 2 a conically shaped roller c is shown, which can be metallized either on the end face d or e or on both. If the end face d is metallized, the result, shown on a greatly enlarged scale, is a metal coating according to FIG. 3, where f is a turn of an insulating material strip from the right-hand half of FIGS. A and g, the metal coating. The strip f can now be provided with a metal layer h or i before or afterwards.
If one were to d both ends and e of the roll in Figure 2 metallize, then: a metal support according would result in Fig 4. is k in this case the Isolierstoffstreifen in section 1 and m are the metal pads to which either ta the assignments and o or. as in Fig. 5 p and q belong.
By applying a correspondingly thick 11-metal layer on the End face of the roller according to the invention and by choosing an appropriate metal the metallized edges can be designed directly as contact connection layers, which can be soldered directly without any special additional treatment, what besides the great advantage of a perfect contact also a significant simplification of manufacturing. To facilitate the deformation of the insulating roller or to make reshaping to a cylindrical roll possible, it is useful to to use an adjustable or tensionable winding mandrel.
