Bed construction to save space in attic buildings e&pgr;

1. Nature and purpose of the invention:

a) A bed, in the invention shown below, is lifted into the roof gable above with the help of an electric motor.

b) The bed is equipped with support rails on the underside ( Sheet 3, Fig. 8 ) which, in conjunction with the guide rail ( Sheet 3, Fig. 6 ) in the wall, help to ensure that the bed can be raised or lowered along the wall. ( Sheet 2, Fig. 1 - 3 )

c) During the raising or lowering process, the bed can be locked at any height, depending on the user's individual needs.

d) Even with gables of varying steepness or flatness, it is possible to build it without any problems. The space required in the gable is no more than for any bed available on the market.

e) The ceiling of the room is incorporated into the underside of the bed so that the support rails (“Sheet 3, Room 8”) are covered. In addition, the underside of the bed, when it is positioned as shown in Fig. 1 (Sheet 2), cannot be distinguished from the rest of the ceiling.

f) The invention can be implemented at any time if a concrete ceiling is present. No problems arise in any case when converting the attic space.

2. Description :

Bed construction to save space, especially in attic apartments with smaller areas, in order to convert the living room into a bedroom.

3. State of the art:

Traditional beds can at best be lowered into the closet wall or raised to the ceiling, but a bed that can be lowered into the roof gable has not yet been invented.

4. Issue:

The living room can be converted into a bedroom, but the space could be used differently and, above all, better. Due to the current housing situation and the fact that in Germany, as everywhere else in the world, especially in urban areas, there is an increasing number of single-person households, the attic area, which is so popular with young people, needs to be made more usable.

In this way, apartments that are currently blocked will be freed up and could serve as housing for many people in the future.

5. Description of the invention:

An embodiment of the invention is shown in Figures 1 - 3 (Page 2):

The figures show the bed construction in front view (1), side parts (la), the ceiling (2), the option of a flatter gable (3) and the operating elements (4 and 5).

Figure 4 shows the above-mentioned bed construction in side view with the guide rails (6) integrated into the rear wall. The drawing also shows the operating elements (10) which can also be operated from the bed. (Raising and lowering the bed)

6. Advantageous effects of the invention:

With the invention, in the specified application, it is possible to lift a heavy bed into the empty spaces above the room without losing urgently needed space and without physical effort, thereby gaining additional space. The bedroom as such has become almost superfluous.

The bed structure is lifted into the roof gable with the help of an electric motor along the guide rails at the push of a button. The underside of the bed has the same paneling as the rest of the ceiling. This means that the bed is not visible from below in the room. The underside is seamlessly integrated into the ceiling. (see sheet 3,11)

The part of the roof gable of a house that is not accessible anyway because it is too low is used to great effect. The space saved in a bedroom or a conventional bed can be used differently and more advantageously.

7. Further development of the invention:

Another possibility for lifting the bed into the ceiling is the following variant. (see also drawings on pages 7, 8 and 9)

In Figures 6-8, Sheet 7, the use of press pistons in front view (1), side parts (la), the ceiling (2) and the operating elements (3 and 4) are visible.

Figure 9, sheet 8 shows the use of the press pistons. It shows that the bed can be effortlessly lifted into the remaining roof space with the help of a cable pull, which in turn is operated by an electric motor installed in the roof area.

7.2. Advantage of further training:

With this variant, no paneling on the wall is necessary, since the press pistons slide into each other when the bed is raised and disappear into the roof gable. Operation is simple and precise. Installation is possible later, just as with the invention itself.

Bed construction to save space in attic conversions characterized in that the underside of the bed is equipped with support rails (sheet 3, item 8) in connection with the guide rail (sheet 3, item 6) in the wall to bring the bed into the position of figures 1-3 (sheet 2). 2.
