Brush holders for electrical machines As is well known, the difficulties
in particular on the commutation device of DC machines or lime machines,
d. H. occur on the brush holder, on the carbon or on the collector, for example in reverse operation
by rail or crane motors, in many cases on the straight guidance of the coals
traced back the brush pockets. The space between coal and brush pocket,
that with regard to manufacturing accuracy, the swelling of the coals and a
Contamination must be present, often produces an edge of the coals K to -den
Angle a (Fig. R), which, no matter how small, is the fully effective brush contact surface
decreased. The brush-collector fluctuates due to the variable coefficient of friction
Brush pressure in its distribution between the edge running up and down is considerable.
In addition there are the unevenness of the collector, so that, especially when reversing the
Direction of rotation, an edge and often a rattle of the coals and a lateral knocking out
of the brush pockets can be determined. As a result of a burning out of coal pockets
poor contact worsens the condition. With so-called inclined carbons
there is friction between the coal and the wall of the pocket. When too tight, guided
Coals often tend to blacken and flash over; under
Short-circuit braking fails under certain circumstances.
The invention eliminates all of these difficulties with brush holders,
whose coal does not slide in a pocket, but firmly in a clamping piece of the
Brush holder is taken in that the carbon by means of a trapezoidal joint

associated with the brush holder support, arrangements being provided
which produce a practically constant brush position.
hohes Maß von .der Sollbürstenstellung ab.The usual brush holder arrangement has already been proposed
(Fig. I) to be replaced by one according to FIG. 2, in which the coal also
is firmly gripped in a clamp on the lever H. Here, however, are the domed ones
Coals are very undesirable because they are difficult to disperse. Known arrangements
a parallelogram lever system results in coals that remain parallel,
however, the contact surfaces in the individual wear positions give way to an impermissible amount
high degree of .the target brush position.
The invention will be explained in more detail with reference to FIGS. 3 to 6, for example.
Fig. 6 stellt
c her.
With a suitable dimensioning of the trapezoid with the levers a and b of different lengths it is achieved that the inaccuracies in the brush position in the two different states of wear of the coal do not exceed the previous play tolerances in the brush pocket. 3 shows the double lever arrangement in a middle and FIG. 4 in the upper layer of the coal K. In FIGS. 5 and 6, the practical embodiment of a double lever arrangement according to the invention is illustrated, for example. FIG. 5 shows, like FIG. 3, a middle layer of the coal K, in which the coal is perpendicular to the two parallel levers u, b . Fig. 6 shows a front elevation. In Fig. 5, a is the long lever to be located after the collector and b is the short lever. On the one hand, the two levers each have a pivot point in the brush holder support c, from which the current is discharged, and, on the other hand, in the clamping piece d. Bypassing the joints, a braid e establishes the power connection between the clamping piece d and the brush holder support c. Of course, the strand does not need to be continuously renewed like a brush strand. A spring f ensures that the brush pressure is always the same. The carbon K is fastened directly to the clamping piece d by means of the screw h. A lever i and a resilient pressure disc h are used for this purpose. For the axial guidance of the carbon K, an approach na is provided on the clamping piece d, which engages in a corresponding recess in the carbon K. Loosening the screw h is sufficient to replace a used coal. An @section of the screw is useful, but not shown.
As for the position of the coal in the individual states of wear,
so it is, for example, Fig. 4 shows, insignificant that the coal IL here
not always the exact radial position: assumes. What is essential, however, is that the
the collector sliding contact surface -the coal K not at all or only very little
from, the contact surface deviates in the nominal brush position. The latter is shown in Fig.
5 marked by a cross. If one draws the position of this nominal position at

occurring deviations of the coal center from the target position. Half
Line width is the achievable plus-minus deviation. These accuracies are
practically entirely permissible and much smaller than the previously known ones
Arrangements for an edging coal.

Coal attend; therefore, the whole brush holder becomes small in inertia
made with respect to the fixed pivot points, for example of light metal,
while the joints are made of harder metal. The cross section of the parts of the
As shown in FIG. 6 for lever b, the double lever system can be approximately U-shaped. The transverse
and partitions of the previous pockets can be omitted. This doesn't just mean
a reduction in the masses, but also an almost zo percent utilization of the
Collector length if a number of coals sit next to each other.
Due to the trapezoidal arrangement according to the invention without a brush pocket,
but with firmly screwed or clamped carbon it is achieved that the initially
mentioned difficulties disappear. The coal tread is calm and on one
exactly cylindrical collector surface with evenly distributed pressure on while
in the event of deviations from the exact cylinder surface, the solid coals remove the collector
influence in terms of an improving effect.
It is only necessary to ensure that the in the unused state
freely protruding wear height of the coal K in relation to the tangential coal width
does not exceed the permissible level with regard to a tremor of the coal.
