In rolls for rolling threads, breaks often occur that do not
solely due to the high stresses on the thread rollers that occur during folding
are to be explained. Research has shown that many breaks are the result of an
The new rollers generally do not show any noticeable hairline cracks that already occur
arise when the rollers harden, and probably already during rapid cooling
during the hardening of the pieces due to tensile stress, as the inner parts
of the pieces to be cooled do not cool and contract as quickly as the
outer parts.
The invention relates to a thread roller or similar rollers,
and the essential thing is that the roller is parallel with a greater number
to the hub hole or to the roller axis extending holes of such a size
is that between the individual holes and between the holes and the roll shell
or the inner hub bore remaining web thicknesses at their thinnest points
are smaller than about a quarter of the dimension between the roller axis and the roller shell.
This has the advantage that when the heated roll to be hardened cools down
Cooling from the surface almost instantaneously to the innermost parts of the
Workpiece progresses so that on the outer surface during cooling
no significant tensile stresses can arise and even after complete
Cooling does not place any significant compressive stress on the outer surface of the rolls
may occur. This prevents hairline cracks from developing during hardening
effectively prevented, and the thread rollers thus have a much longer service life
than before, as they can no longer break as a result of hairline cracks. The hardening
such a roller is almost uniform throughout the entire material,
and the finished roll has almost no internal stress.
zwar in Stirnansicht. The drawing shows an example of the roller according to the invention, and
although in front view.
Frage. The thread roller i has a large hub bore 2, and between
this and the outer surface is a series of large holes 3 in even,
fairly close spacings are provided so that the material thicknesses, ¢ between the
individual holes and the thicknesses 5 between the holes and the hub bore and
the thicknesses 6 between the holes at the end of the jacket surface are approximately the same.
Something remains between every two holes 3 and the outer surface or the hub bore
thicker parts 7 and 8 are available, but they are so thin that they are up to
When cooling, cool the inner core almost simultaneously with the surface
and on the other hand useful for stiffening the work surface located on the mantle
are. To hard cracks. In any case, these somewhat thicker parts no longer led.
The holes 3 can therefore, as drawn, be made round, albeit one
deviating from the round shape to a more rectangular shape with rounded corners
Shape for even hardening is possibly more favorable. Such deviating
However, shapes of the holes generally only come into play with particularly thick rollers
