Collective packaging for transporting winding cores

The innovation concerns a collective packaging for the transport of winding cores, consisting of a fixing device inserted through the inner bore of the winding cores and an outer packaging for fixing the entirety of the stacked winding cores.

A similar collective packaging is known, for example, from EP 0 320 751 by the same applicant. This describes a packaging for several tape-shaped recording media (so-called pancakes) wound onto flangeless winding cores with internal holes, whereby the outer tape rolls are protected by plate-shaped plastic pallets and whereby a cylindrical rod is inserted through the internal holes of the winding cores stacked on top of one another.

Normally, the unwound winding cores are delivered by the supplier loosely stacked on top of each other in boxes and are transported to the separation stations for the recording media for winding. At the separation machines, the material web, which comes from the production casting machine and has the recording media layer cast on it, is separated lengthwise into the width it is used for. This can be a magnetic tape, a photographic film or a photographic paper.

In order to initiate the separation process, the following activities must therefore be carried out:

- Unpacking the winding cores from the shipping box and transporting them to the separation station

- Providing the required number of winding cores for the separate recording media

- Removal or destruction of the shipping box

It is obvious that these manipulations are inefficient and time-consuming. The innovation set itself the task of finding an efficient, time- and cost-saving and reusable collective packaging without creating waste of the generic type mentioned above.

According to the innovation, the problem was solved with a collective packaging with the features mentioned in claim 1. Further details of the innovation can be found in the subclaim, the description and the drawings. The innovation is now explained in more detail using the two drawings and in fact, it represents

Figure 2 shows a collective packaging for transporting the winding cores stacked on top of each other on a pallet.

As shown in Figure 1, the fixing means is a column (2) with a square base (1) and a cylindrical rod (3) that has a hole (8) at its free end. The manufacturer of the winding cores stacks them on top of each other on the cylindrical rod (3). The winding cores can

either so-called NAB cores or interlockable stackable winding cores according to OE 24 48 553. The fixing means with the winding cores stacked on top of each other are then packed in a large cardboard box (7) and a foam plate (5) is placed over the free ends of the cylindrical rods (3), which has recesses or indentations (6) that accommodate the free ends of the cylindrical rods, so that safe transport of the packaging is guaranteed. The large box has corresponding adhesive or Velcro fasteners (9, 9") on the top of the hinged flap as well as (10, 10') on the outside of the side wall and the flaps for securing in the open state. The large box can be transported on a Euro pallet. The dimensions of the securing means are expediently such that just as many winding cores are stacked on a cylindrical rod as are required for a separation length on the separating machines for winding up the separated strips of the material web. The rods have one or more grip holes (8) at their upper end for removal from the large box. After removing all of the winding cores from the separating machines, the securing means can be put back into the large box, whereupon the plate

(5) and the box is returned to the manufacturer of the winding cores.

In this way, any waste is avoided, and the rationalization effect described above is achieved because each separation station receives the amount of winding core required for a separation process from the outset.

In a practical example, in a large rectangular box, six fixing strips were placed in nine rows.

means, each of which contained 170 winding cores, were packed and transported. 170 strips of 3.81 mm wide magnetic tape were cut out of a material web with a width of approx. 68 cm and wound onto the winding cores. The fixing means (2) can be made of hard plastic or metal or wood. The plate (5) can be made of foam material or cardboard or similar.

Claims (3)

Protection claims: 1. Collective packaging for transporting winding cores, consisting of a fixing means inserted through the inner bore of the winding cores and an outer packaging for fixing the entirety of the stacked winding cores, characterized in that the fixing means (2) is a cylinder rod (3) attached to a square column base (1), on which the winding cores (4) are arranged so that they can be plugged onto one another, the side length of the column base (1) being at least as large as the outside diameter of the winding cores (4) and the fixing means being able to be transported in a large cardboard box (7) in a close row, with a plate (5) with a plurality of ring-shaped recesses or indentations (6) being located on the top of the packaging, which receive the free ends of the cylinder rods (3). 2. Collective packaging according to claim 1, characterized in that exactly the number of winding cores required for a separation process on separation machines for recording media are arranged on a fixing means so that they can be plugged onto one another. 3. Collective packaging according to claim 2, characterized in that the upper side of the cylinder rods (3) has one or more grip holes (8). A-G 5549
