Die den kanalverschließenden Abdeckungen sind bei diesen Installationskanälen mit ihren profilierten Seitenrändern in die Rinnenprofile an den oberen Randkanten der Seitenwände des Kanals eingesetzt und decken dabei über die Kanalbreite die parallelen Teilkanäle ab. Diese für die Teilkanäle gemeinsame Abdeckung bringt einmal dann Schwierigkeiten mit sich, wenn verhältnismäßig große Kanalbreiten zu überdecken sind, da in diesem Fall die Längsstabilität und die Federwirkung der Abdeckung nicht mehr den Erfordernissen entsprechen und weiter, wenn für die in Teilkanälen geführten Elemente unterschiedliche Sicherheitsbestimmungen zu beachten sind. So z. B. wenn in einem Teilkanal Schwachstromleitungen geführt sind und in dem anderen Teilkanal Starkstromleitungen, und in diesem Fall müssen bei Verlege- und Wartungsarbeiten auf der Schwachstromseite die im anderen Teilkanal geführten Starkstromleitungen abgeschaltet werden, um die Gefahr der Berührung offenliegender Kontaktstellen u. dergl. auszuschließen. Man hat deshalb bereits vorgeschlagen, zur Bildung von Teilkanälen in dem Installationskanal, ortsfeste Trennwände vorzusehen, die mit dem Boden und den Seitenwänden des Kanals ein Stück bilden und für jeden der gebildeten Teilkanäle eine eigene Abdeckung vorzusehen.Installation ducts of this type are used to accommodate different types of cables, e.g. hoses or pipes, in the separate sub-ducts.
