Description

Stackable Wurakoaposter for garden and kitchen waste.

The proposed stack worm composter is used to convert organic garden and kitchen waste into λα-humus compounds by using soil organisms and in particular heat-loving compost worms (eisenia foetida).

It is known to produce worm compost with compost worms under certain conditions. It is also known to let compost worms migrate through a perforated partition between two adjacent containers. When feeding in one container is stopped, the ^worms migrate into the other container, which has just been filled with organic waste. After a certain waiting time, worm-free worm compost can be removed.

It is also known to create a climate in containers that is suitable for soil organisms using roll-up and removable covers that are tensioned by weighted wood.

The new features of the stacking worm composter with two or more stacking boxes allow for labor-saving filling with organic waste and easy removal of worm-free worm humus directly from one of the stacking boxes.

The stacking boxes (1) have sloping side walls and when stacked, they are one third deep into each other. The box bottoms (3), which are made of wire mesh or perforated plates, therefore rest on the compost from a fully filled stacking box, so that the compost worms can migrate through the bottom into the stacking boxes above, which have just been filled with organic waste. After a certain waiting time, the worm humus in the bottom box is almost worm-free and can then be used immediately in the box.

Corner strips (2) on two opposite side walls create air gaps between stacked boxes and thereby ensure the oxygen supply to the soil organisms.

The stack worm composter is mobile and can be placed in the garden and in the summer in the basement or in a garage. A bottom tray (10) is used to collect falling worm humus or draining seepage water.

A tension cover (5) placed on the top stacking box with a fabric or film, both of which are opaque, is intended to protect the compost material from getting wet through rain and drying out through sun and wind, as well as to protect the light-sensitive compost worms from light and ultraviolet radiation. By raising the ridge batten (6) with wedges (9), the distance of the covering fabric or the covering film from the upper edge of the gable sides and thus also the air exchange to supply the soil organisms with oxygen and to dissipate heat can be changed.

To fill with organic waste, one side of the tension cover (5) is lifted or rolled up. When changing the stacking boxes, the tension cover can be removed.

The stacking worm composter is made of rot-resistant wood, such as acacia or larch, which does not require any coating with wood preservatives. Four corner strips (2) connect the side surfaces to one another. They also serve as spacers between the gable sides of stacked boxes and form air gaps to the compost. The corner strips also serve as box feet and give the lower stacking box clearance from the ground.

The two mutually adjacent ridge bars have recesses (8) at their tips, into which a ridge batten (6) is inserted. This ridge batten is part of a tensioned covering (5) with fabric or foil, the tension of which is generated by the weight of tensioned timbers (7).

To change the ventilation gap between the top edges of the gable sides and the fabric or foil, the ridge batten (6) can be raised using two wedges (9).

To fill the upper stacking box, the film can be rolled up on one side and placed on the second half of the roof. The entire tension cover (1) can also be removed

The box floors (3) are made of wire mesh with a mesh size of 8 mm and thus allow the compost worms to migrate freely from the lower box to the upper box.

The stacking worm composter is mobile. Handles (4) on the gable sides make handling easier.

When the stacking worm composter is installed indoors, falling worm humus or seepage water is collected in a floor tray (10).
