Description
It is known that in the conical tube rotating floats ever have a different number of revolutions according to their altitude, each is Altitude assigned a certain number of revolutions, so that the number of revolutions can serve as a measure of the altitude or the flow rate. The present Invention uses this phenomenon to determine or
Counting the flow rate. It concerns a flow meter with rotating float playing in a conical measuring tube, the latter shields an electrical cell from a light source and carries a window through which a light beam falls on the cell once or twice with each rotation and thereby generating electrical surges, the number of which in the unit of time is a measure for the flow rate results.
The cell current generated can advantageously be used in an electromagnet which serves as a relay and a stepping mechanism connected to a counter actuated. If necessary, the cell voltage can also be applied to the grid of a cathode tube are placed, with the cathode tube in the circuit of said electromagnet lies.
I und 2). An exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing (Fig. I and 2).
In the drawing, a is a transparent conical measuring tube in which the opaque float b moves up and down. On the one hand the measuring tube there is a light source c, which the measuring tube over the entire length of the measuring scale evenly illuminated, while on the opposite side there is a photoelectric Cell d is located on the length of the measuring scale. The float b has such a length that it completely shadows the cell in all positions and carries it at a suitable altitude a window e, the lower part of the cell and in the lowest float position in the uppermost float position faces the upper part of the cell. The window is designed so that with each turn of the float the light turns on once or twice can fall on the cell, so that the number of illuminations of the number of revolutions of the float is proportional. Because the window at any altitude any part facing the cell, it generates each revolution of the float once or twice an electric shock in her. The cell current is at any distance from the Cell attached electromagnet f supplied, whose armature g now in rhythm the float turns and a counter is operated that shows the number of revolutions of the float is added as a measure for the flow rate.
