Ohmsche Widerstände, Streufeldtransformatoren oder ähnliches, verwendet, was ihren
durch die Entladung kurzgeschlossen wird, sieht die Erfindung vor, den Widerstand;
in.
Abschirmung. In the case of electric discharge lamps that contain gases, vapors or both when in operation and that have cold, heated or heated electrodes, it is necessary to limit the passage of current after ignition, otherwise the discharge lamp would be destroyed. For this reason, such discharge lamps have hitherto always been used with external loads, be it chokes, ohmic resistors, stray field transformers or the like, which makes their operation extremely expensive. It is also known to enclose an electric discharge lamp together with an external series resistor, for example in the form of an incandescent filament, in a common glass bulb, the incandescent filament, however, lying outside the actual discharge lamp. The present invention now provides for the series resistor to be built directly into the discharge lamp itself. So that the series resistor built into the discharge lamp is not completely or partially short-circuited by the discharge, the invention provides for the resistor; to be surrounded with a shield, which can consist, for example, in a glass tube. According to the invention, this shield is constructed in such a way that it blocks the path of the discharge along the resistor. The shield can either surround the resistor at any desired distance, depending on the structural requirements, but can also be designed so that it rests directly on the resistor or that the resistor is firmly embedded in the shield. The lamp can. be covered with suitable phosphors, and the shield can also be provided with a mirror coating. A lamp according to the invention can be designed, for example, according to Ader's drawing: a is the outer wall of the discharge lamp, b and c are the electrodes that supply current, d is a tube made of glass, for example, which is insulated from electrode b in such a way that the discharge takes place cannot pass through the shielding tube, e is the load resistor inside the tube leading to electrode c, f is an ignition resistor running on the outside of the shielding tube, g is the five-electrode to which the ignition resistor is connected, h is the base , i is a luminescent layer on the inner wall of the discharge lamp, k is a mirror layer on the inner wall of the shield.
The overriding advantage of this lamp is that, how it turns out
As shown in the drawing, it is possible to have the power supply only on one side
of the lamp so that the lamp works like a normal incandescent lamp without further ado
can be connected to the network without the need for any other ballast
are.
