The invention relates generally to the equipment or facility of rescue or patient transport vehicles and in particular to a device for suctioning saliva and the like from patients in such vehicles with a vacuum or negative pressure connection on the vehicle side, a collecting container connected to it and a suction line leading from there to the patient.

During rescue operations, it is extremely important and urgent to keep the patient's airways clear. For this reason, rescue and ambulance vehicles are usually equipped with devices of the type described above.

Up to now, the vacuum or negative pressure connection has usually been arranged on the side of a vehicle wall in the vicinity of a holder for the collecting container, in which, due to its connection with the vacuum or negative pressure connection, a negative pressure can be created if necessary, so that saliva etc. can be drained into the collecting container by means of the suction line leading from the collecting container to the patient's oral cavity.

This arrangement is not ideal for an emergency. The suction line runs through the free space available for medical personnel around the patient in the rescue or ambulance vehicle and can cause considerable disruption during emergency measures.

The object of the invention is to design the equipment of a rescue or ambulance vehicle to be particularly suitable for emergencies.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the vacuum or negative pressure connection is arranged on the vehicle ceiling.

In this way, any disruptive cables in the vicinity of the patient's bed inside the vehicle are avoided.

In particular, there is the possibility of connecting the vacuum or negative pressure connection via a hose line to the collection container arranged or attachable to the patient, e.g. on the stretcher, i.e. the collection container can easily be arranged in the immediate vicinity of the patient and carried on the stretcher 3 or on the stretcher support frame 2 or on the lifting table for the stretcher 3 in the event of an emergency.

If medical devices, aids, infusions or similar are arranged in a ceiling-mounted container or similar in the rescue or ambulance vehicle, the vacuum b2W. negative pressure connection is preferably located on or in this housing.

Inside the patient transport cabin 1 of the vehicle, a stretcher support frame 2 is arranged, on which a stretcher with the patient to be transported can be placed.

There is usually sufficient free space for the medical personnel to the side of the stretcher support frame 2 or the stretcher 3, so that there is sufficient room to move for emergency measures.

Above the stretcher support frame, a housing 4 or similar is located on the vehicle ceiling for medical emergency equipment and aids, for example for infusions, infusion equipment, ventilators, etc.

A vacuum or negative pressure connection 5 is arranged on or in this housing 4, which is connected to the suction connection of a pump via a line arranged concealed on the vehicle side. One end of a hose line 6 can be inserted into the vacuum or negative pressure connection 5.

the other end of which is connected to a collecting container 7 that can be suspended from the stretcher 3, in such a way that a negative pressure can be maintained in this container 7. A suction line 8 leads from the collecting container 7 to the oral cavity of the patient to be transported, so that the oral cavity can be kept constantly free of saliva, blood, etc. if necessary, in order to counteract blockage of the patient's airways.

The suction line 8 can be fixed to the patient’s mouth in the usual way using a plaster or similar.

If the patient is carried out of the vehicle on the stretcher 3, only the hose line 6 needs to be detached from the vacuum or negative pressure connection 5 or from the collecting container, the suction line 8 can remain in place, because the collecting container 7 can be carried on the stretcher 3.

It is therefore unnecessary to loosen the suction line 8 which is fixed to the patient’s mouth area.

Since there are no cables in the area surrounding the stretcher support frame 2 or the stretcher 3 within the vehicle that restrict the medical personnel's freedom of movement, it is safely avoided that the suction line 8 can be accidentally torn out of the patient's oral cavity.

Device for suctioning saliva etc. from patients in ambulances or patient transport vehicles etc. with a vacuum or negative pressure connection on the vehicle, a collection container connected to it and a suction line leading from there to the patient, characterized by that the vacuum or negative pressure connection (5) is arranged on the vehicle ceiling. 2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the vacuum or negative pressure connection (5) is connected via a hose line (6) to the collecting container (7) which can be attached or suspended on the patient, e.g. on the stretcher (3) or on the stretcher support frame (2) or lifting table. 3. Device according to one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that the vacuum or negative pressure connection (5) is arranged on or in a ceiling-side housing (4) for medical devices, aids, infusions or the like in the vehicle.
