25The invention relates to a cross-country or touring ski binding for cross-country skis which have, at their front sole end, complementary engagement elements which can be inserted into engagement elements of the binding and have an axis extending transversely to the longitudinal direction of the boot in order to produce a joint-like connection.

Such a ski binding, which is already on the market, is known, for example, from DE-C-29 42 806 and US-A-4 309 833. These are ski bindings for holding a front end of a boot on a ski, the front end of the boot being provided with a hooking element which can be brought into engagement with a locking device and can be pivoted together with the boot. Furthermore, this ski binding is characterized in that a first support area for the hooking element is provided on a support element attached to the ski and a second support area for the hooking element is provided on a support element attached to the ski.
Des weiteren ist bei einer relativ weit vorne liegenden Biegelinie auch der Skikontakt beein-. trächtigt.element is arranged on the locking device and that at least one support area is elastically deformable. Technically, this ski binding is characterized above all by the fact that play between the hooking element and the locking device, e.g. due to manufacturing tolerances or due to wear, is eliminated. Specifically, the hooking element assigned to the boot is designed as a metal bracket protruding over the front end of the sole. The result is that the joint defined by this binding is located correspondingly far in front of the front end of the sole, resulting in a movement sequence that is not particularly ergonomic. It has been shown that considerable deformations occur in the running boot when skiing using these conventional designs. This deformation work requires energy that is destroyed and cannot be transferred to the ski and the snow. It is therefore important that this deformation work is reduced to a minimum in order to be able to convert a maximum proportion of the energy applied by the skier into speed. The deformations in the known systems of the type mentioned occur primarily in the toe area, and in particular in the upper part of the shoe, with the result that at the end of the rolling phase the toes are squeezed between the sole and the upper part of the shoe, which becomes noticeable after a longer run through the form of blue toenails. The deformations mentioned also impair the exact ski guidance due to a lack of precise contact between the foot and the ski. The required deformation work ultimately leads to premature fatigue of the feet. Furthermore, if the bending line is located relatively far forward, the ski contact is also impaired.
&lgr; Der vorliegenden Erfindung liegt daher die Aufgabe zugrunde, die bekannte Skibindung so weiterzubilden, daß beim Skilanglauf ein wesentlich ergonomischerer Bewegungsablauf erreicht &lgr; The present invention is therefore based on the task of developing the known ski binding in such a way that a much more ergonomic movement sequence can be achieved in cross-country skiing.

The ski binding should be characterized by robustness and functional reliability at the same time.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the joint axis integrated in the sole extends within a front sole recess approximately in the toe area, and in that the complementary engagement elements of the binding comprise a holding element which engages behind the joint axis and forms a hinge joint with it, which can be moved from a closed position into a release position and vice versa, and in that the front end of the sole, in particular on the binding side, is assigned an elastically deformable element for elastically returning the shoe from a pivoted-up position into an approximately ski-parallel position.
The invention is therefore primarily characterized by the fact that the sole-integrated engagement elements, namely the joint axis, are shifted to the rear. Tests have shown that optimal biomechanical results are achieved with this design, especially when the sole-integrated joint axis and thus the "binding joint" is located in the area of the cross-country skier's big toe. Furthermore, the fact that the sole-integrated joint axis is arranged within a front sole recess means that the joint axis is brought closer to the insole of the ski boot. The joint axis and thus the "binding joint" are therefore at a minimal distance from the cross-country skier 's toes, resulting in even better and more direct contact with the ski.
The flexor provided according to the invention is known per se. In combination with the other features of the invention, however, it contributes to increased running comfort. Preferably, the flexor is designed as a replaceable element made of rubber or the like, so that flexors of different hardness can be used depending on the weight and ability of the cross-country skier.
Structural details of the binding according to the invention are described in the subclaims, whereby the embodiment according to claims 9 and/or 10 is of particular importance with regard to ease of use, whereby a finger bar is hinged to the free end of the operating lever associated with the holding element, by means of which the operating lever can be pulled from the closed position into the release or open position by overcoming a dead center position, whereby the finger bar can be pivoted out or up from a position folded against the operating lever in the closed position of the binding housing while supported by the binding housing. As a result, the operating lever can be moved out of its dead center position more easily, and can actually be "levered out". The aforementioned support of the finger bar on the binding housing preferably takes place at the end diametrically opposite to its hinge point to the finger bar.
The knee lever mechanism described in claims 3 ff significantly improves the functional reliability of the binding, since separate locking elements, i.e. elements that hold the binding in the closed position, are unnecessary. In addition, the knee lever mechanism described in claims 3 ff can be built extremely robustly, so that the binding according to the invention is also particularly well suited for the so-called Teiemärk technique.

Vorzugsweise beträgt das erwähnte Hebelverhältnis etwa (3-4:1).A finger bar 10, preferably made of metal, in particular aluminum, is hinged to the free end of the operating lever 22 (hinge 19), by means of which the operating lever 22 can be pulled from the closed position into the release or open position by overcoming its dead center position according to Fig. 3, in the direction of arrow 29. Since overcoming the dead center position of the operating lever 22 when opening the binding can be more or less laborious depending on the pre-tension, the embodiment shown also provides that the finger bar 10 can be pivoted out or up (arrow 30 in Fig. 3) from a folded position in the closed position of the operating lever 22 while being supported on the binding housing ö, with the result that the operating lever can be moved out much easier? 22 from its over-dead center position. The support of the finger bar 10 on the binding housing 6 takes place, as Fig. 3 clearly shows, at the end 11 that is diametrical relative to its linkage 19 to the finger bar 13. The distance of the finger bar 13 to the linkage 19 is significantly greater than the distance of the diametrical end 11 to the linkage 19. Due to this lever ratio, the dead center position of the actuating lever 22 can be easily overcome by gently pulling the finger bar 13 in the direction of the arrow 30 according to Fig. 3. Preferably, the lever ratio mentioned is approximately (3-4:1).
When the finger bracket is supported on the binding housing as described, the diametrical end 11 of the finger bracket 10 slides on the top side 31 of the binding housing 6, whereby if the binding housing 6 is made of sufficiently hard plastic, a separate surface treatment in the support sliding area is not necessary.
Die oben erwähnte Aufnahmenut 20 für die Gelenkachse 8 befindet sich in einem Bereich zwischen dem Flexor 10 und einem dachartig ausgebildeten Gehäuseteil 32, welcher sich in die nach vorne und unten offene Ausnehmung 25 an der UnterseiteThe above-mentioned receiving groove 20 for the joint axis 8 is located in an area between the flexor 10 and a roof-like housing part 32, which extends into the recess 25, which is open to the front and bottom, on the underside
Laufsohle des Skischuhs L beip Skilanglauf begünstigt.of the front section of the sole of the ski boot 2, in such a way that the rolling movement of the boot is not hindered during cross-country skiing. In the open or released position of the holding element 3, the roof-like housing part 32 covers its holding bracket 27, as can be seen in Fig. 4. The contour of the roof-like housing part 32 and the guide ribs 33 immediately adjacent to it correspond both in the longitudinal direction of the ski and transversely to the contour of the recess 25 and the guide grooves immediately adjacent to it on the lower side of the outsole of the ski boot 2. In the longitudinal direction of the ski, the contour of the parts mentioned is slightly concavely curved, as can be seen in Figs. 1, 3 and 4. This curvature promotes the rolling of the outsole of the ski boot L during cross-country skiing.
The above-mentioned support surface 14 at the front end of the sole of the ski boot 2 rests against a corresponding inclined surface 4 of the flexor 10 even when the ski boot is completely lowered onto the ski deck surface 12 of the ski body (not shown in detail). In this way, the flexor 10 is effective from the very beginning when the ski boot is swiveled up. The flexor 10 can be designed in such a way that the restoring force is either approximately constant or progressively increasing over the entire compression distance.
Figures 1 to 4 show that the binding described is extremely compact and functionally reliable. The position of both the hinge axis 8 and the associated receiving groove 20 in the binding housing ensures an ergonomic movement sequence. At the same time, a particularly direct ski contact is achieved. The cross-country skier has the feeling of rolling directly on the snow surface with his ski boot. The disadvantages mentioned at the beginning, which occur when the hinge axis is located far in front of the boot sole, are avoided in the described embodiment.
