Device _for detachably connecting two seat units

The present innovation relates to a device for the detachable positioning of two pieces of seating furniture standing next to one another, comprising a fork-like locking part and a clamping piece that can be clamped into the locking part in various locking positions, wherein the clamping piece is firmly connected to a mounting plate or a mounting bracket for attachment to one piece of seating furniture and the locking part is pivotally connected to a mounting plate or a mounting bracket for attachment to another piece of seating furniture.

Such devices are used to secure several pieces of seating furniture combined to form a seating group against accidental movement.

A locking part is attached to one piece of seating furniture and a clamping piece is attached to an adjacent piece of seating furniture. The locking part can be pivoted on a mounting plate or

arranged on a mounting bracket so that this locking part can be swiveled into the area underneath the seating for transport purposes. If the seating prepared in this way is to be connected to one another, the locking part is swung out and then protrudes laterally beyond the seating in question. The two seating pieces are then pushed together, with the clamping piece being inserted into the locking part and clamped there. The two pieces of furniture are pushed close together so that no gap remains between the two pieces of seating.

Although the known devices of this type have proven their functionality, they are comparatively expensive due to their complex and multi-part construction.

Although there are inexpensive devices for detachably connecting two pieces of seating next to each other, these inexpensive constructions have proven to be very vulnerable.

The aim of the present innovation is to create a device of the generic type that consists of a few individual parts and is therefore inexpensive to manufacture and is also extremely stable and robust.

This task is solved in accordance with the innovation in that the locking part is made in one piece from a spring-elastic plastic and has a U-shaped outline, that on the inner flanks of the legs of the locking part a

A plurality of sawtooth-like locking notches are arranged »ind and that the clamping piece has a triangular outline and, when clamped, rests against the flanks of two opposing locking notches.

Such a device consists of relatively few individual parts and is therefore inexpensive to manufacture. The locking part, which is made in one piece from spring-elastic plastic, can be manufactured in a correspondingly stable and durable design with minimal use of material.

Further features of the innovation are the subject of subclaims.

The device provided with reference number 10 for detachably connecting two pieces of seating furniture standing next to each other and only shown in outline in the connection area and 12 essentially comprises a fork-like locking part 13 Bn as well as a clamping piece 14 interacting therewith.

As is particularly clear from Fig. 2, the locking part, which is made in one piece from a spring-elastic plastic, is equipped with an essentially U-shaped outline. A large number of sawtooth-like locking notches 16 are provided on the inner flanks of the legs 15 of the locking part 13. In the opening area, the inner flanks of the legs 15 are provided with bevels 17, so that the insertion of the clamping piece 14 into the locking part

13 is made easier.

In the embodiment according to Fig. 1 and 2, the box part 13 is pivotally connected to a mounting bracket 18, whereby this mounting bracket 18 serves to fix the locking part 13 to a seating furniture 12. The clamping piece

14 is permanently equipped with a mounting bracket 19 for fixing to the other seating furniture 11.

The clamping piece 14 is preferably made of metal. This clamping piece 14 has, as shown in Fig. 2, a triangular outline. The angles of this triangular outline are selected so that the clamping piece 14, when clamped in, rests positively on the flanks of two opposing locking notches 16. This results in a secure and practically play-free locking between the locking part 13 and the clamping piece 14.

As Fig. 1 clearly shows, the locking part 13 can be pivoted with respect to its mounting bracket 16 and thus can be pivoted under the relevant seating furniture 12 when not in use. When the locking part 13 is pivoted into its position of use shown in solid lines in Fig. 1, a cam 20 formed on the locking part 13 is brought into contact with a front edge 21 of the mounting bracket 18, whereby the position of use of the locking part 13 is fixed. A user therefore does not have to pay any particular attention to how far the locking part 13 has to be pivoted in order to assume its position of use.

The embodiment of the innovation shown in Fig. 3 and 4 differs from the device according to Fig. 1 and 2 only in that the clamping piece IA is equipped with a mounting plate 22 for attachment to a piece of seating 11 and the locking part 13 is also equipped with a mounting plate 23 for attachment to another piece of seating 12. Otherwise, the construction and mode of operation of the locking part 13 and the clamping piece IA are identical.

In all of the embodiments shown, the mounting brackets 18 and 19 or mounting plates 22 and 23 are made of metal to ensure secure and permanent attachment to the corresponding seating furniture.

Claims (5)

Device for detachably connecting two pieces of seating standing next to each other, comprising a fork-like locking part and a clamping piece that can be clamped into the locking part in various locking positions, the clamping piece being firmly connected to a mounting plate or a mounting bracket for securing it to one piece of seating and the locking part being pivotably connected to a mounting plate or a mounting bracket for securing it to another piece of seating, characterized in that the locking part (13) is made in one piece from a spring-elastic plastic and has a U-shaped outline, that a plurality of sawtooth-like locking notches (16) are arranged on the inner flanks of the legs (15) of the locking part (13) and that the clamping piece (14) has a triangular outline and, when clamped, rests against the flanks of two opposing locking notches (16). 2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the legs (15) are widened in the opening area by bevels (17) to form an insertion opening. 3. Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that a cam (20) is formed on the remaining part (13), which, when the locking part (13) is in the use position, rests against a front edge (21) of the mounting bracket (18) or the mounting plate (23). 5. Device according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the mounting brackets (18, 19) or mounting plates (22, 23) are made of metal.
