The invention relates to a writing pen, in particular a ballpoint pen, with a lower part having a writing tip and a handle-like upper part according to the generic term of the main claim.

Writing pens or ballpoint pens usually consist of a plastic or metal sleeve with a writing lead inside the sleeve. The latter can be replaced after unscrewing the end or the middle part of the writing pen. All such writing pens are either cylindrical or truncated conical at their bottom and may have coaxial grooves for better grip. These writing pens have the disadvantage that, when used for a long time, they are tiring due to their material or shape, particularly due to the strain between the inside of the first joint of the middle finger facing the thumb.

Furthermore, ergonomically deformable holders for writing instruments are known from DE-GM 87 02 891, in which the entire holder consists of a hardenable paste-like or malleable plastic, which is individually deformed by the user while still malleable, after which the user must then wait for the holder to harden using light, air and/or a separate hardener, after which the holder then retains the shape given to it by the first user after hardening. Such writing instruments with holders made of plastic that has not yet been fully polymerized and masses containing hardeners are harmful to health, especially for children who either suck their fingers or chew on the writing holder.

There has also been no lack of proposals for hand-held writing instruments in which the grip area tapers towards the writing tip and in which the surfaces tapering towards the tip are concave in order to adapt to the convex

Such designs are unsuitable for mass production, since they have to be shaped differently for left-handed and right-handed people.

Finally, according to DE-GM 73 26 679, conventional cylindrical pens with a solid writing core and a cylindrical casing were proposed, which consist entirely of a flexible material such as rubber. These devices do not have any ergonomically favorable shape.

The invention is based on the object of proposing a writing pen, in particular a ballpoint pen with a lower part having a spreading tip and a stem-like upper part and a wing-like area located on the lower part, extending radially from the longitudinal axis of the writing pen and lying in its longitudinal plane.

To solve this problem, a writing pen of the type mentioned at the outset is proposed, which is designed according to the characteristics of the main claim, with further advantageous embodiments being defined in the subclaims. ;

Surprisingly, it has been shown that a paddle-shaped area extending radially from the longitudinal axis of the pen and lying in its longitudinal plane, which tapers from the circumference of the pen to the outer edge, is particularly "grippy" and does not lead to finger fatigue even after prolonged use. The paddle-shaped area is dimensioned in such a way that it rests comfortably on the first knuckle of the middle finger, on the inside of the middle finger in the direction of the thumb. Both the fact that the paddle-shaped area is made of a shape-elastic material and that the outer surface in the front half of the paddle-shaped area is curved inwards or concavely drawn in contribute to the grip and better ergonomic usability of the pen.

Because the paddle-shaped part is made of a 5 shape-elastic or flexible material, the user does not experience any signs of fatigue when using the pen for a longer period of time; the pen is easy to use and comfortable to hold in the writer's hand.

In a particularly preferred embodiment, the pen has a total length of only about 100 to ¹⁴⁰ mm; this means that the outer end of the pen ends approximately in the crook of the thumb of the hand, which is sufficient for practical use and with regard to the ability to store the pen in small pockets,

pocket calendars or other containers. Of course, the pen can also be made much longer. With regard to storage in pocket calendars or similar containers, the paddle-like design of the front part is an advantage, as this fin-like tapered area is particularly well suited to being inserted into narrow columns of a pocket calendar and held there permanently.

The writing pen according to the invention can preferably consist of a flexible material, i.e. the entire pen including the writing lead is flexible, which contributes to better usability.

The writing pen 2 shown in Figure 1 consists of a conventional stem-like upper part '4 and a lower part 6 having the writing tip 8. The holding of the writing lead or the ballpoint pen part, including the exchangeability of the same, can be carried out in the usual way, either by allowing the sleeve-like pen to be separated at the head 10 of the writing pen or in the middle area 12 of the pen in order to insert a new lead.

It is essential in a preferred embodiment that a partial area 16 is provided in the paddle-shaped area 6, which curves inwards or is concavely drawn in. This curvature can be provided on the left and/or right side of the pen and, in conjunction with the shape-elastic design of the paddle-like element, serves to provide better and ergonomically adapted guidance of the pen.

In a preferred embodiment, the length - (b) of the paddle-shaped formation 6 measured longitudinally at the base of the pen is approximately 50 to 70 mm long, while the width measured radially from the longitudinal axis of the pen to the most protruding edge is preferably 15 to 30 mm; (a).

In the embodiment shown in Figure 3, the pen sits in the wing-like region 16 and has two congruent, retracted partial regions 18 and 18', which are arranged in the paddle-like region.

Writing pen, in particular a ballpoint pen with a lower part having a disk tip and a stem-like upper part and a wing-like region located on the lower part, extending radially from the longitudinal axis of the writing pen and lying in its longitudinal plane, characterized in that the wing-like region (6) is designed like a paddle and tapers from the circumference of the writing pen to the outer edge of the paddle-like region and has an inwardly curved or concavely drawn-in partial region (16) in the front half of the same (Fig. 1 and 2). 2. Writing pen according to claim 1, characterized in that the poodle-shaped region consists of a material with low elasticity. 3. Writing pen according to claim 1, characterized in that it has two congruent recessed portions (18, 18')" (Fig. 3). 4.
